Man recounts two experiences with bigfoot while camping in the Lower Peninsula
The witness and two children were camping late at night beside a bonfire when an animal reportedly rushed past from behind. All three heard an extremely loud scream or roar, and two of them briefly saw the creature before it was gone. The witness described feeling paralyzed or hazy while the children fled to their van. Twisted trees were later noted on a nearby trail.

After smelling a rancid odor all day and seeing glimpses, at night in candlelight one witness came face to face at five to six feet with a 7-8 foot tall hairy creature that made a loud robotic ARK bark. They all fled up a hill while it chased and vocalized, later finding the ramp burned from a knocked candle and snacks shredded.

Three people were camping on a ridge during deer season when they heard heavy footsteps circling and piercing screams. After a tree was heard falling, something very large rushed past the camp breaking saplings, and a snapped tree was later found. A large shadowy outline then watched the camp from beyond the firelight for the rest of the night.

On a hot August night the witness was kept awake by dogs barking that seemed to move past the house from west to east. After the dogs quieted, the witness heard rustling outside a second-story window and saw a hunched, light-haired monkey-like creature step into the lit yard. The creature moved on its hind legs while using one hand and walked slowly down the driveway as the witness called to a relative. The relative searched outside with a gun and flashlight but found nothing, and the witness believed it had climbed a tree.

He prepared to go outside with a handgun to retrieve the outdoor dog but stayed inside after a second roar and a family member's urging, remaining terrified through the night.

The witness and two companions were driving south at night when headlights illuminated a large dark animal crouched over roadkill at the road edge. The animal turned to look at the car, then rose onto two legs and left the roadway into the woods in two steps. The group did not stop and continued driving in silence.

Four teenagers walking north from a family hunting camp stopped on a steep two-track when they saw a tall, broad, dark figure standing in the middle of the road at the hilltop staring at them. After watching for about one to two minutes, they turned and ran back to camp without seeing what it did. Poorly defined pushed-in depressions were later noticed in soft gravel and sand in the general area.

They then saw a very large, hairy humanoid shape behind them that stared before moving, which frightened them into running to a lit section of road. The witness was preparing to bathe at home in the evening when she noticed a tall, dark, shaggy figure standing only feet from the bathroom window. Its head and shoulders filled much of a window set about six feet off the ground, though its face could not be seen clearly. Frightened by the encounter, she later removed the window and plastered over the opening.

In the fall of 1982 the witness was driving at dusk and noticed a tall hair-covered figure standing at the edge of the road. She slowed and observed it for several seconds, noting its long arms, dark face and red-glowing eyes. The figure then jumped quickly into a nearby swamp as she drove away.

Two young family members went to the barn after dark to check animals and one touched fur in the dark and then saw a tall furry biped with red eyes. The creature followed as they left the barn without harming them. An older relative then confronted it with a shotgun, fired in the air, and it ran into the woods making a noise.

At a bend in a lane the witness saw a tall reddish-brown hairy biped standing off the trail about 25 yards away and they stared at each other without moving. After a standoff the creature raked berries from a shrub and ate them while glancing between the shrub and the witness. The witness slowly backed away out of sight, then walked fast and ran from the woodlot.

The passenger described a close, brief view in the headlights as the animal passed the van and left the roadway in a few steps. An oncoming vehicle left the road into a ditch during the encounter. The occupants discussed what they had seen after driving on.

The witness and a companion were walking through an overgrown orchard near the witness's home in late afternoon when they heard a loud stomping sound nearby. They then saw the partial rear view of a large upright hair-covered animal moving away into dense brush while making a guttural sound, and both fled to the house. Deep ground impressions, broken trees, and loud screams were also noted around the time of the encounter.
