The witness was driving home from work on a rural road at night when a tall, hairy figure entered the road ahead of the car. The witness slowed to avoid a collision as the figure loped across to the opposite tree line without looking toward the vehicle. The encounter lasted roughly 10-15 seconds at close range.

Early one morning while preparing to leave a campground, a couple noticed a large figure standing outside their trailer's bedroom window peering in. The privacy glass showed only a shadowy chest, head and part of an arm, which the companion photographed. When the witness opened a distant door and turned on a light, the figure was gone but quick footsteps were heard leaving down a gravel road. After sunrise they found large footprint-like impressions in the gravel near the trailer.

In summer 2009 near Deep Creek by Lake Arrowhead, California, the witness reported seeing a very tall figure standing on a large boulder about a mile away. The husband reportedly saw it cross the road and head downhill toward the river, while the wife shortly after saw it cross back and climb uphill. After briefly seeing a juvenile bear emerge and retreat, the witness turned and noticed a large upright human-like shape close by in thick brush. After fishing, the witness sat on the bed of his truck at a parking area above a swamp at night. He watched a dark figure with shining eyes approach to within about 10 yards. After he whistled to announce his presence, the figure stood upright on two legs and retreated while watching him, tripped and got back up, then disappeared behind trees. He left immediately and did not return for some time.

Three people camped on an island area at Keystone Lake and heard repeated grunting and howl-like vocalizations after midnight. After two people kayaked back to the cars and two returned, the two in kayaks had two very large rocks land in the water near them as they approached shore in darkness. One had earlier seen green eyeshine near the campsite on the first return. Finding no other people on the island, they packed up and left during the night.
