A husband and wife were driving slowly on a dark, icy, snow-covered road at night to pick up their son. A tall, dark, hair-covered biped stepped into their headlights and crossed directly in front of their car in two long strides before going into a nearby yard and hiding in trees. They continued on to collect their son.

The witness and a companion spent the day fishing and prospecting near a dam and spillway while feeling watched. As light faded they walked back toward their car, sensing something pacing them unseen and stopping when they stopped. After reaching the dam road in darkness, the witness saw one large dark form and two smaller forms move around the spillway and up a hill, then heard them make repeated guttural, sentence-like sounds in response to a shout before disappearing over the ridge.

After midnight the witness, sleeping in a cabin bedroom, was awakened by vibration and the sense of someone walking on the porch. Looking toward the porch light through a window about twenty feet away, the witness watched a hair-covered figure with its back turned, which then turned, looked toward the window and leaned to peer inside before jumping off the six- to eight-foot-high porch. The witness kept watching in fear and did not tell others or search for traces in the morning.

A child walking home from the bus stop through woods climbed onto a stump and noticed a tall black figure about 15 feet away breathing heavily and rocking with its arms at its sides. The figure turned its head to follow the child as the child backed toward the pavement and then ran home. The child told both parents about the encounter, and the father later submitted it after noticing a similar nearby report.

The witness was driving north on Highway 101 between Orick and Klamath at night and saw what looked like a bear squatting by the road. As the witness approached, the figure stood up as a tall, hairy human-like silhouette that appeared much taller than the Jeep roof and seemed to hold its hands over its face against the lights. Within about 20 yards it took one leap off the road into the darkness toward the valley, in an encounter estimated at about ten seconds total.

The creature took a couple of large steps toward the redwoods, went around a tree, and disappeared into dense brush. The encounter lasted only a few seconds and left the witness badly shaken.

The reporter was driving west on Highway 50 near Meyers at night with his wife and two children. The reporter and his wife saw a large animal cross the road ahead in the headlights and disappear into the trees. The wife, who had clearer vision, described it as monkey-like, heavy-set, with light brown hair, walking slowly and casually on two legs without looking at the car.

A driver coasting downhill around a corner encountered a hair-covered biped crossing the road ahead in daylight. The creature first walked and then ran very fast, leaping into roadside brush without looking toward the driver. The observation lasted from about 100 feet down to about 40 feet.

He described the animal as over seven feet tall, heavily built, with long muscular arms and no visible neck.

After a brief check with a night-vision scope that revealed nothing, the witness looked again and saw the upper portion of a tall, hairy, human-like figure walking toward the creek past tall berry bushes. The figure was backlit by a neighboring porch light, showing a large rounded head on very large rounded shoulders with little neck.

The animal dropped to all fours, crossed to the opposite side into roadside brush, then watched the vehicle from the brush where its face was seen close to the passenger window. The witness later estimated its height at about eight feet based on the roadside drop-off and concluded it was not a bear.

The witness was taking a dog outside at night and felt watched after the dog stared and growled. After shining a flashlight in that direction, the witness saw two hairy bipedal figures cross a fence and then ran inside. Relatives then went outside, reportedly saw the larger figure up close, noticed odor and sounds, and the group found large tracks the next day.

A family staying at a remote pack station heard a high-pitched whooping call for many minutes that seemed to approach and then pass toward a wilderness trail. The daughter went to the access road to meet the caller and saw a large, hair-covered, unclothed being with a long beard, long arms and a big mouth walking quickly past. She said it did not see her and was not vocalizing when seen. The next morning the family found a few possible wide-toed prints in the dust at the spot she indicated.

The witness group was camped in a Sierra County campground and walked to an outhouse at night with a small flashlight. The witness shone the light toward the outhouse area below the trail and saw two red eyes that appeared to crouch down, then quickly returned to camp. A foul odor noticed around the outhouse lessened when others checked shortly after, and the next morning the group found small uprooted trees and no odor, estimating the eyes had been 7 to 8 feet off the ground.

The witness then saw a large black-haired figure sitting under a pine about 30 yards away and stared at it before it stood and bounded away making the same noise.

The son, riding as a passenger in a vehicle traveling alongside a river, reported seeing a large hairy animal squatting on a rock in the water appearing to drink with its hand.
