The witness and three companions were driving north on Highway 441/71 into Tennessee toward Gatlinburg around dusk. From a distance they saw a very tall, large, hairy, ape-like figure crossing the highway from left to right on two feet, illuminated by street lights ahead. They reported a clear view from the shadow side but could see nothing at the crossing point when they drove up due to darkness.

The witness and a friend went out at night to search for the witness's father who had not returned from fishing. While searching along the creek they heard an unfamiliar clicking sound and saw two sets of large red eyes on the far river bank. They found the father deceased beside his boat and later learned he had suffered a heart attack. The witness believed the unknown creatures were watching over his father and had helped him locate the body.

A figure approached uphill in a zigzag while making stepping sounds and low grunts and growls, then stopped a few feet away at eye level for about 20 seconds. The witness was driving alone on a deserted hilly road shortly before midnight when he saw a brown hairy animal on all fours that he first took for a large deer. When he closed to about a hundred yards, the animal stood on two feet and ran silently into the woods. He noticed roadkill in the road and a foul smell that he said might have come from the roadkill, then drove away quickly.

The witness was riding an ATV on a logging road with his stepbrother riding behind him when a tall hair-covered biped dashed across the road directly in front of them. The figure cleared the logging road in about two steps and disappeared into thick brush on the other side. The witness sped away in fear and the passenger did not see the figure. The witness later returned to the spot but found no tracks or odor, only a seldom-used path through the brush.
