Upright creature crosses road in the path of a car near Newington Forest
In summer 1973 the witness was driving on Pohick Road with her children in the evening when a tall hair-covered bipedal creature stepped into the road in front of her car. It stopped two to three yards from the hood, turned toward the headlights and stared for a few moments. It then crossed to the shoulder in one stride with a smooth gait and went into the woods.

The creature crossed the road in two steps, pausing midway to turn and stare at them. The witness estimated it was about seven and a half feet tall with ice-blue eyes. The witness was driving home alone in the early morning when headlights lit a large standing figure about twenty yards out in a bean field beside corn. The eyes reflected red and the head and upper body were visible above patchy fog, appearing as tall as the surrounding corn. The witness drove away frightened without stopping for a closer look.

The witness saw a figure about 25 yards away that was squatting, then stood seven to eight feet tall, covered in very dark brown hair except the face, and walked upright. The figure then went around the corner of the house and disappeared, leaving a burning skunk-like smell. Two men who had been away returned later and searched the large farm into the early morning without finding anything.

The form appeared to walk upright toward them, showing long hair, a bearded face, and swaying shoulders above the waterline. Unable to identify it or get a verbal response, they became frightened and motored away, abandoning their decoys.
