The witness was driving to work in the early morning when she saw a large dark animal cross the road ahead and move toward woods. As she passed the crossing point, she saw a massive upright creature with long gray hair and a large white patch on its broad chest on a small hill. She returned after work and found no tracks but noticed a strong smell likened to fresh meat.

The witness was hiking alone on a narrow wooded trail searching for snakes. About 50 yards ahead, a brown human-shaped figure about person-sized or bigger leaped across the trail from left to right on two legs. The witness stopped to listen, then walked to the crossing point but saw nothing in the dense woods and heard no movement. The witness continued hiking while looking back and only later considered the sighting might be out of the ordinary.

Coming home around 3 a.m. after a double shift, the guest drove toward a shape in the pasture and realized it was a squatting hairy creature with blood around its mouth holding a dead animal. The creature showed contempt, bared bloody teeth, then stood to about 6 foot 8 and walked away while the guest backed out in his truck.

The witness was deer hunting alone from a box blind on an old railroad bed in the morning. Through a rifle scope he watched a large black-haired biped move between the woods and a field for about twenty minutes, at one point scratching its leg like a person and checking the wind. After it reached a corn pile it turned toward the blind, froze when the witness waved, then fled extremely fast back the way it came. The witness later told his father and the property manager, who searched the area and nearby houses but found no matching poacher.

The guest was driving his Jeep at night near his hunting spot when a deer bolted across the road. A huge black hairy creature launched off a ridge and chased the deer on all fours across the road into a valley. As the deer neared the treeline, the guest saw the outline of a second, larger creature standing upright as if waiting in ambush.

The witness was driving home late at night in September 1998 when they noticed an animal in a roadside ditch near a river. Believing at first it was a dog possibly feeding on roadkill, they slowed as it turned, pushed itself up with its arms, and began to stand. They described an ape-like, fur-covered creature with a bare orangutan-like face, broad chest, and very long arms, and continued past without stopping.

The witness was driving on a highway through forest and swamp late at night when a small fox-like animal ran along and across the road. Immediately after, a large upright shaggy creature leapt across the highway in front of the car from right to left and disappeared into roadside vegetation. The witness reported a foul odor just before the sighting and glowing amber eyes reflecting the headlights, and swerved slightly before continuing home shaken.

There he encountered a tall, hair-covered figure pulling at the pen wire, which turned to face him before fleeing toward the forest. A relative who ran outside also saw the figure running away. No physical evidence remained the next day after an overnight thunderstorm.

The creature paused in the middle of the road to look toward the vehicle, then leapt into an adjacent swamp and disappeared. In 1991 around 1-2 a.m., the witness and a companion were driving backroads looking for deer when they saw a bipedal figure cross the road ahead in the headlights. They drove closer, stopped, and shone a flashlight into the woods where a figure stood behind a tree about 20 yards in. The figure stepped out, appeared to look toward them with red eyeshine, then walked away into the woods, and the pair drove off frightened.

The witness was riding as a passenger with a relative on a familiar road to visit friends when both noticed an animal in the road near a bridge over a swampy pond. After the driver slowed and sounded the horn, the animal stood upright, looked toward the car, then sprinted quickly across the swamp toward the woods. The witness stated familiarity with bears and claimed this was not a bear. When they returned shortly after, they saw remains of a small animal in the road that it may have been eating.

The witness, then age 13, rode a bike up the road to get a newspaper with a dog alongside and noticed a strong onion-like odor. In a hollow beside the road the witness saw a very large, light-brown hair-covered creature eating wild grapes that looked at the witness and moved toward them. The frightened witness fled home on the bike as the dog also ran home, then looked back to see the creature climb over a fence and go back into the forest.

A driver stopped to help two motorists whose car had left the road after swerving to avoid a large hairy creature chasing a deer across the road. While fetching a rope from his truck to pull their car out, he walked directly into the creature standing behind his truck. He noted a foul smell, red eyes, and a low growl before it walked to the woods edge and then into the woods. He then helped move the car and continued his trip, shaken by the encounter.
Possible early morning sighting along country road near Pickens
Around mid-summer 1981, the witness was riding a bicycle home in the early morning hours ahead of a companion. Near an intersection he looked back and saw a whitish object moving quickly from one side of a barbed-wire fence to the other into woods, knocking branches aside. He did not get a clear view and first thought of a horse, but on revisiting the site the next day concluded a horse could not have moved that way through the dense cover.
