When they shone a flashlight toward shore they saw a large dark human-shaped figure with red glowing eyes partly obscured by vegetation, then yelled and banged oars before retreating to a safer distance and hearing a loud scream or roar as they loaded the boat and left.

The witness was camping at Upper Cascade Lake and walked to the shore to photograph mist on the water. Across the lake he noticed an animal splashing that stood upright, stepped toward the treeline, turned to stare at him, then disappeared into the forest. The figure held its arms at its sides and appeared to float rather than run, crossed a path beside a corn field, then entered standing corn and disappeared. The observation lasted about 15 seconds at an estimated distance of 225 yards.
