The witness was catfishing alone at night by a spillway when he illuminated a pair of eyes watching him from across the water. He kept his light on the eyes, tried a deer snort and threw rocks, after which the eyes backed away silently and the animal walked toward brush. He left shaken, estimating the animal at about 5.5 to 6 feet tall despite never seeing its body.

While camping alone at night near a stream, the witness heard a deep growl and saw a crouched dark mass at the treeline, fired warning shots, then heard rocks repeatedly splashing in the stream for hours and heard deep oof sounds on a later approach. Near dawn a very tall hair-covered female-like figure stood by the tent and walked rapidly toward the witness despite additional warning shots, then ran away over granite and out of sight. The witness remained in place until daylight and then hiked out.

The witness was riding as a passenger on a late-night drive with family when the forest lit up brightly and many small eyeshine appeared on both sides of the road. Shortly after on a straight stretch they found a red-haired hair-covered figure lying curled in their lane. They stopped, approached on foot to about forty feet, then left without photographing it out of concern for safety and privacy.

A logging crew traveling in a crew wagon encountered a large hair-covered biped standing in the road. The creature looked at them, then walked off on two legs while giving an elk-like scream. After the crew exited the vehicle they noticed a strong sweaty odor and heard it crashing through brush into dense forest. They radioed a supervisor about law enforcement follow-up, but no one arrived.
Multi-witness road-crossing sighting on Hwy 96 outside Happy Camp
The witness was driving east on Highway 96 at night with his daughter when headlights caught a hairy biped coming down an embankment toward the road. He stopped and watched it take a few long strides to the centerline, look toward the car, then leap off the pavement and disappear. He described it as about six feet tall, very stocky with long arms and dark brown hair, and noted its eyes did not reflect like deer eyes.

The witness was fishing alone at a secluded mountain lake and took a break around 1 o'clock. The witness turned to look up the hill behind and saw a very large black-haired creature about 15 yards away, partly hidden by a large Douglas fir with its right arm around the tree and looking directly at the witness. The witness froze in fear, noting details of the muscular arm, long arm hair, short muscular neck, and bluish-green eyes, and said the creature showed no aggression.

The witness and a relative were relaxing in a hot tub when they heard rustling and branches cracking to the east. They then saw a huge figure that appeared to be putting blackberries in its mouth while watching them. After briefly chewing, the figure turned and walked away without running. The pair noticed a rotten smell in the area and later looked for a dead animal to explain it without success.
Various sightings by a family next to Lauritzen Botanical Gardens
In April 2002 just before sunrise, the witness let her dogs into the fenced backyard. The dogs ran barking toward the fence then retreated yelping as she noticed a tall hair-covered figure behind a tree in the neighboring yard. The figure leaped sideways between trees then moved forward toward her to within about 20 feet on the other side of the fence, causing her to flee inside and lock the doors.

The witness stopped on the dam at Stumpy Meadows after fishing and driving back. While looking into trees about 40 yards away, the witness watched a pair of large red glowing eyes for about two minutes, then saw an upright outline step sideways behind a tree. A second, shorter set of red glowing eyes and a smaller stocky figure were then seen nearby.

While driving to work in the morning, the witness saw a large reddish-brown long-haired animal crossing the road on all fours. The animal moved smoothly and unhurriedly to the opposite side and disappeared into thick vegetation near a creek. The witness noted a flat human-like chest, head set directly on the shoulders, and knuckle-walking, and interpreted it as a juvenile.

In July 2005 the witness woke at night in a prospecting camp and smelled wet fur. The witness then watched a large figure cross a creek about 20 feet away for about 10 minutes until it stepped behind a tree and disappeared after a truck bed light was switched on. A relative was present at the camp but did not see the figure.

A couple went outside to smoke in the early morning and saw a small furry creature on all fours and a tall two-legged figure near a bush. After the husband turned on vehicle lights, they saw another figure drop from a tree and crouch by a chair, then heard growls and watched a figure run upright across a field. They smelled a brief skunk-like odor and found their dogs unusually silent, concluding multiple creatures were present to divert attention.

The witness noticed movement across the river about 75 yards away and saw a reddish-orange quadrupedal animal with a pale face that looked toward him before climbing over a downed treetop and disappearing. He tried to film it but captured only the shaking branch. Deer on the witnesses' side of the river would not cross the water.

The witness was driving east on Sagamore Road on a hot late morning. A dark brown or black figure emerged from the right and crossed the road and adjacent open area in three strides before disappearing. The witness noted its forearms held high, a silver-gray flash near the forearm and head, a stocky build, and height well over six feet. The witness concluded it was not a jogger because of its dark coloration in heat, inhuman speed, stride length, and thicker arms.
Camping family glimpses a grey animal twice in three days
The witness was camping with kids on Oak Creek in July 2005. On two nights after 10 p.m. the witness and her daughter saw a short grey slender shape dash behind trees and run toward cover near the river, followed once by a thud and high-pitched shrieks. The family also heard patterned rock clicks and nearby walking and breathing, and noticed a skunk-like odor. The family became frightened and packed to leave.

The witness was camping in an old open cabin with companions and a dog. About two days after a disturbed night, the group heard branches snapping and something large running at night and watched a tall shadowy figure run across the road and up a hill in a few strides. The dog reacted strongly and had to be put in a tent. The next morning they found very large footprints behind the cabin and across the road.

The witness was turning a dump truck and spreading stone on a remote camp road when he noticed an animal on a stone pile that stood on two legs and then vanished. After adjusting his chains and driving forward, he saw two upright, hairy animals pacing the truck in his mirror, with the larger one estimated at eight to nine feet tall. He was frightened and left the area quickly. He also noted a feeling of being watched and a nasty smell earlier while outside the truck.

After correcting course, they heard cracking, turned on flashlights, and saw a large hairy figure about 20 yards away positioned high between two trees pulling them together. They fled when they heard a heavy thud and crashing pursuit behind them, running to their pickup vehicle and leaving.

Five occupants of a van driving on Route 301 in South Carolina late at night encountered a tall black hairy biped crossing the road. The driver swerved and braked to avoid a collision as the animal paused, looked toward the vehicle, then hurried across. When the occupants looked back, it was gone.
Daytime sighting near Canton on State Route 164
The witness was driving to work in the morning while watching for deer. From the road the witness saw a tall black-haired figure standing at the edge of the woods in a creek bottom area watching the vehicle pass. The witness slowed but did not stop, and the figure remained standing without acting aggressive. The witness has watched for it since but has not seen it again.
