The witness heard loud huffing and grunting, crashing through brush, and smelled strong body odor approaching in the dense woods. They braked hard, and the animal stood up from a squat, moved to the roadside, looked at them briefly, vocalized, and left into the woods. Both occupants briefly got out, felt watched, pulled the deer carcass off the road, and left.

The witness arrived with a companion at a house after a Christmas party and heard an odd duck-like sound. The companion stopped while the witness kept walking toward the sound. Two drivers at a nearby intersection reported something huge walking between their trucks toward the witness, then running away so fast it outpaced a truck down an alley.

The witness and companions returned at night to the same lakeside spot where they had been frightened the night before. They heard a distant roar that suddenly sounded a few feet away, lit the area with a spotlight, and saw a tall upright creature with its back to them that ran and then paused. The creature roared again when shot at and pushed over a green cottonwood before the group left.

The witness and companions were cooking catfish at a hunting camp when a noise came from the well where fish guts had been left. The witness went toward the well with a light and rifle, heard a moan, and saw a large dark form that stood upright. After shouting warnings and firing shots in the air, the witness said the form moved off and footsteps were heard in leaves. The next day large five-toed tracks were found at the well and most of the guts were gone.

The witness was on a picnic date by a sandy creek in Texas in the evening. While carrying items back to his vehicle he heard a deep grunt, then watched a dark hair-covered biped run upright down a hill and sprint across deep sand. It shortened its stride to leap about 12 feet across the creek, pulled its foot from the far bank, and continued up the other side. His companion also saw it and asked who that was.

Late one afternoon the witness walked through a creek bottom toward a relative's deer stand. He smelled a foul odor and heard something large moving in a swampy thicket. He described it as a 6 to 7 foot tall, broad, stooped biped covered in dark brown hair.

From about fifty feet they realized it was a hairy biped about six and a half feet tall. The witness, then about 11, went with his father to a surveyor's home in deep East Texas and followed the surveyor's young son down a thin trail behind the house to a deadfall. The son gave whooping calls, after which the witness heard approaching footsteps, heavy breathing like a horse, a deep word-like vocalization and a powerful percussive sound, then breaking limbs. The witness fled back to the house as a tall dark figure ran alongside through the brush, stopping when he screamed for his father.

In 1977 two companions hunting frogs at a remote pond heard a roar and saw trees moving. One saw a large brown hairy form partly hidden behind a cedar tree and swaying. Both fled on foot while hearing heavy thuds, and one saw a large rock bouncing nearby. A few days later they returned and found a cleared limb bed and a limb torn from a mesquite tree, but no footprints due to rocky ground.

A teacher and companions are said to have encountered a tall creature on at least six occasions near an old bridge in Cooke County, Texas. The encounters occurred at night from a vehicle, with the figure seen as a tall silhouette in headlights and heard making threatening noises while moving through brush. On one occasion the creature was described as bouncing a limb, whose height was measured the next day, and daytime searches reportedly found bones in the creek. Shots were allegedly fired at the creature without apparent effect.

On a bright early morning in summer 1972, the witness and his brother were sleeping at home when the witness noticed a large shadow at the window that remained about five minutes. After the brother woke and made a noise, the figure turned, showing a flat-faced profile and hunched posture, then walked away and was seen from the back door as covered in dark hair. The figure paused when they struck the glass, then continued leaving. A day later they found tracks behind the house leading toward the houses.
