After hearing brush-breaking and grunting sounds for some time, the witness was rushed by a large upright figure that came within about 10 feet while making loud vocalizations. Both individuals fled and the figure did not pursue further.

It shortened its stride to leap about 12 feet across the creek, pulled its foot from the far bank, and continued up the other side. His companion also saw it and asked who that was.

Late one afternoon the witness walked through a creek bottom toward a relative's deer stand. He smelled a foul odor and heard something large moving in a swampy thicket. The witness was camping with companions on a multi-day hike and looked out of a tent early in the morning to see two hair-covered figures in vegetation about seventy feet away. The larger figure reached toward branches while the smaller handled a stick, then the larger vocalized, took the smaller's hand, and both left behind trees. The companions did not see the figures, and the witness later mentioned the sighting to a ranger while leaving the area.

In May/June 1986, the witness was helping a companion gather firewood on a farm when they found trees stripped of bark with snapped branches. Later, while sitting by a pond, the witness saw a very tall, muscular, reddish-brown upright creature about 100 feet away at an electric fence near tobacco trailers. The creature sniffed the air and grunted while a dog barked, then ran back into the woods. The companion's father arrived with a shotgun and found footprints larger than his boot where the creature had stood.

In a backlit clearing they observed the full outline of a tall, dark, hair-covered biped that crossed difficult terrain with remarkable speed. The animal ceased following as they reached a more traveled ridge trail.

Two teenagers camped on a mountain logging road were harassed by thrown sticks, loud grunting and tree-banging sounds, and a strong foul odor. When they shone a light into the woods about 25 yards away, they saw a very tall fur-covered figure that ducked behind a tree. They put out their fire and fled down the trail, saying the figure followed them most of the way back.

Three youths hunting squirrels with slingshots encountered a tall, dark-haired human-like animal about 15-20 yards away and watched it for about two minutes. The animal shifted position and made a cough-like vocalization, after which the youths fled to a camper. The witness was on night shift at an isolated gravel pit and walked up the hill to the porta potty during a break on a bright moonlit night. He mistook an approaching figure for a co-worker, hid to startle him, then came face to face at about 15 feet with a very large hairy biped that grunted, producing a visible cloud of breath. The creature walked into the bush and snapped a large branch, the witness fled down to the crusher, drove to town, and later returned with his friend to find a torn branch and large spaced steps leading to a ledge.

As a young child riding in the bed of her family's pickup truck at night, the witness woke to her parents panicking while a large black hairy animal chased and gained on the truck. Her father shot at it, it fell off and rolled, and she then saw a second tall skinny brownish-reddish hairy figure lean over it.

At a track crossing in the distance the witness saw a tall dark figure that turned its whole upper body and stepped toward the witness. After a nearby truck started, the figure left the tracks for the woods in two long steps, and the witness heard unfamiliar growling and vocal sounds. The witness later waited locked inside the work vehicle until coworkers returned.

In summer 1984 the witness was watching television at home late in the evening with a window open when grunting sounds approached the house. The witness looked and saw a large dark upright figure pass by while neighborhood dogs became agitated and a foul skunk-like odor was present. The witness judged the figure too large to be a man and moving unlike a bear.

Six coworkers on a seismic crew were eating lunch on a hill when they noticed a dark hair-covered figure moving through timber about 500 yards away. The figure walked upright on two legs with long swinging arms and made muttering sounds before noticing the men, then fled into the timber breaking branches. The men then heard loud screaming and moaning vocalizations from the timber and left the area by helicopter.
