The witness was deer hunting alone before dawn from a rock above a game trail. A figure approached uphill in a zigzag while making stepping sounds and low grunts and growls, then stopped a few feet away at eye level for about 20 seconds. After the witness coughed and waved, the figure turned and walked away bipedally out of sight and hearing.

The witness and several companions were sighting in rifles on a warm sunny afternoon when they noticed a large dark figure moving in woods across a creek. Through a rifle scope the witness watched the upright, dark-haired figure repeatedly grab and shake a large tree for 15-20 minutes. Only the upper half of the figure was visible, and the group left without further interaction.
Nighttime roadside sighting by a motorist outside Joplin
The witness was driving a lifted pickup back toward campus around midnight with two sleeping passengers. While rounding a sharp curve in a wooded area near a creek, the witness saw a large upright creature standing in the ditch a few feet from the road and viewed its upper body eye-to-eye for a few seconds. After passing, the witness looked back and the creature was gone.

On a warm dark night in late summer 1993, five people inside a relative's house saw a large furry head peer through the back-door window for a few seconds before disappearing. The witness, part of a two-person wildland fire crew, was descending a steep brushy slope after working a fire when a dropped shovel led him to a rocky ledge with a small cave. Looking uphill, he watched a dark hairy upright figure moving away through brush for a few seconds before it became still and silent, after which both men left and reported the incident.

The witness hiked into a mountain with a dog to collect moss and was returning with a heavy sack. While descending through a ravine the witness felt watched and glimpsed something standing tall about 100 yards ahead that vanished instantly as the dog bolted and later returned subdued. Three backpackers waited out a storm below tree line, then continued hiking out toward the trailhead near sunset. As they crossed a logged clearing they heard thrashing and a howl, then saw a massive dark biped run through brush about 60 yards away into the forest. After hearing another distant howl from the opposite direction, they left the area quickly.

The witness called two children out to watch it, and the figure left when the witness's partner arrived.

The witness was driving alone in the morning when a large dark hairy biped was seen on the right side of the road. The creature was observed briefly from the side as it walked into tall cattails beside the road. As the witness passed, the vegetation was seen moving violently but the creature was no longer visible.
Vocalization near Bowie, Texas (1993)
The witness arrived with a companion at a house after a Christmas party and heard an odd duck-like sound. The companion stopped while the witness kept walking toward the sound. Two drivers at a nearby intersection reported something huge walking between their trucks toward the witness, then running away so fast it outpaced a truck down an alley.

While inspecting land where the Missouri River had changed course, the witness crossed a levee and came face to face at about 50 yards with two creatures. One stood braced between trees swaying side to side and watching him while the other stayed on hands and knees appearing to dig for crawdads. After about 20 seconds of locked gaze and chest rumbling with dread, the witness left quickly for his car.

Eight high school friends were camping and sitting around a campfire when they heard steady footsteps climb a steep hill, stop at the crest, then sprint away. When two went to investigate a loud high-pitched scream stopped them. Later that night in the van a companion saw a hairy arm reach in the window and take food, which was found strewn toward the woods.

The witness was horseback riding with friends and stopped for lunch when crashing was heard in the brush. The witness rode toward the noise to look for elk and watched a small hair-covered creature trying to drink from a pool about 30 feet away. The horse became agitated so the witness left to tell friends, who returned and heard movement and saw ferns moving as something left toward the larger creek. The witness believed the crashing was made by a larger animal accompanying the young creature.

The witness was walking uphill near Hunter Creek and climbing over a large fallen tree when they saw an entity stooped behind another fallen trunk about 30 feet away watching them. After a few seconds of staring, the entity turned and disappeared behind the tree. The witness then found several prints in the forest debris and followed them uphill briefly before losing them.

The witness and his father were walking to their deer stands before sunrise when they heard something moving parallel to them and smelled a musky odor. Something ahead screamed and howled, and a flashlight revealed eye reflections several feet off the ground. They retreated to the stream and at daylight saw dark fur moving through deadfalls in the distance.
Massive animal seen hunched over eating something in the middle of the road
Two occupants driving at dusk on a forested secondary highway in Oregon passed a very large animal eating in the middle of the road. The animal showed no fear, lifted its head to look at the car as they passed, then resumed eating. The witnesses described it as massive and solid with two-toned hair and an unusual pushed-in snout, estimating it would stand at least seven feet tall erect, and said it did not match bear, wolf, or dog familiar to them.

The witness and a companion were exploring near a river after fishing was cut short and began throwing rocks at a sandy slope. They heard a noise above them and saw a hairy human-like creature with a large upper body and hands perched over a stump looking down at them. After brief eye contact the creature retreated into the treeline, and the two fled to a vehicle and told the adults they had seen a large bear.

The witness was hiking with a companion in a pine forest and stopped for a break near a rocky outcropping above a ravine. From about 150 feet above, the witness watched a dark brown, upright, hair-covered figure moving slowly through heavy brush below. When the witness shouted to the companion, the figure looked up showing a human-like face, then left quickly through the brush before the companion could see it.

The witness was walking back to his truck after dumping bear bait when a tall dark creature crossed the two-track road in one step. He approached the crossing point and saw a gorilla-like face peering from behind a cedar tree about 30 feet away. After watching briefly, the creature turned and disappeared silently into the woods, leaving the witness with a strong feeling of dread.
