The witness and two companions were relaxing in an outdoor hot tub at a vacation cabin near Gatlinburg when the woods went silent and tree movement was heard. The witness noticed a motionless black shape resembling a gorilla's head and shoulders in sunlit brush about 100 yards away and watched it for several minutes. After briefly looking away at the cabin wall, he found the shape gone, and shortly after heard trees cracking. He watched for about ten more minutes without seeing anything further.

After hearing odd noises and corn stalks breaking for some time while dogs reacted defensively, they heard a loud scream and saw a tall hair-covered humanoid emerge from the cornfield across the road. Two companions deer hunting walked toward their vehicle when they heard a low rumble and splashes at a drinking hole. They then watched an upright grayish-brown creature for about a minute as it lingered and walked over a ridge out of sight. They described it as 7 to 8 feet tall, heavily built with very long arms, and insisted it never dropped to all fours like a bear.

The figure ran rapidly across the field edge twice, dropping from upright to all fours and back upright without breaking stride.

The witness and a friend went out at night to search for the witness's father who had not returned from fishing. While searching along the creek they heard an unfamiliar clicking sound and saw two sets of large red eyes on the far river bank. They found the father deceased beside his boat and later learned he had suffered a heart attack. The witness believed the unknown creatures were watching over his father and had helped him locate the body.

They then watched a large hairy creature walk across an old logging trail before it ran off through the forest, possibly after smelling them. After climbing down after dark they found no footprints but noted damaged undergrowth.
