Four young men drove late at night to find a reputedly haunted mansion and nearby infant grave. Two of them approached an iron-gated house that appeared well-kept and spoke with a very old woman in historic clothing who held a candle and gave directions using wagon trails. After hearing loud infant crying at the grave site, they drove past the house again and found it dilapidated and overgrown, though the woman with the candle could still be seen inside. The group fled and never discussed the night together again.

The witness and his father were walking to their deer stands before sunrise when they heard something moving parallel to them and smelled a musky odor. Something ahead screamed and howled, and a flashlight revealed eye reflections several feet off the ground. They retreated to the stream and at daylight saw dark fur moving through deadfalls in the distance.

A tall, hairy, human-like figure stood up nearby in shallow water and stared at them for several seconds. While bowhunting from a tree stand, the witness heard loud high-pitched shrieking and saw brush shaking as an unseen animal moved through thick briars. A hunting companion positioned below reportedly saw the animal on two legs and described it as apelike. Both left the area out of fear and did not return.

The guest, then a teenager, was hunting on family land after being warned to avoid a pine area. Hearing loud injured-deer-like screams, he walked toward them and saw a large upright creature holding a branch, breathing rapidly with puffing cheeks and twitchy eyes about 50-60 yards away. When he raised his rifle the creature fled rapidly, jumping a creek into a cedar swamp. Shaken, he detoured around a large cedar tree feeling intense fear, ran to the cabin, and later left the woods for two years.
