They experienced stick throwing into the water, repeated disappearance of garlic, probing trails around the cook area, chatter and a roar at night. In daylight the guest viewed a hair-covered creature squatting against a stump through a scope, then found a repeatedly used standing depression overlooking the camp.

A prospector camping alone in coastal mountains awoke at night to being carried inside his sleeping bag for hours to a small enclosed valley. There he encountered four hair-covered individuals described as a family group and was held for about six days living on remaining canned food. He gained favor with the younger ones using snuff and handmade utensils, then incapacitated the adult male with a large dose of snuff and escaped during the resulting commotion, hiking south to a logging camp for help.

At the family's homestead the captain recalled rabbits being taken with wire untwisted and only heads left. On a summer day the three young siblings were playing in the lower guest house with the door open when a very tall creature crouched to look in at them.
