Campers on Mount Graham experience possible intimidation behavior
The witness family was tent-camping at a site on Mt [name withheld]. Between 1 and 4 a.m., after the husband re-entered the tent, the witness and her daughter saw a tall thin figure walk quickly past the tent in the dark and heard slipper-like footsteps on the road. The witness later heard loud chewing and lip-smacking behind the tent and noticed an unfamiliar animal smell. The sounds lasted about 20 minutes and stopped without footsteps after a distant camper door was heard.
Camping family glimpses a grey animal twice in three days
The witness was camping with kids on Oak Creek in July 2005. On two nights after 10 p.m. the witness and her daughter saw a short grey slender shape dash behind trees and run toward cover near the river, followed once by a thud and high-pitched shrieks. The family also heard patterned rock clicks and nearby walking and breathing, and noticed a skunk-like odor. The family became frightened and packed to leave.
Morning sighting in the Lukachukai Mountains of northeast Arizona
The witness was deer hunting on a mountain ridge in the morning when separated from companions. He heard brush crashing and saw a very large black hairy biped moving downhill through tall oak brush toward a trail and into the forest, smelling a strong musky odor. He watched it through his rifle scope but did not shoot, then left by a road while hearing movement alongside and firing once to scare it.

The witness was hiking alone near the school campus in late morning when a strong odor and digging sounds drew attention. Through brush about 50 yards away, the witness saw a large gray-brown hairy animal crouched over a burrow digging with hand-like limbs and making grunting sounds. When it began to shift toward the witness, the witness fled to campus and reported the sighting to school staff.

The witness was walking an old mining trail near a mining claim when a foul odor and sudden silence caused intense fear. Something in low brush paralleled her as she moved toward the truck, stopping when she stopped. On the fourth stop a dark head peeked out and blinked before she fled to her husband at the mine.
