A family of four was fishing along the Klamath River on a sunny afternoon when they noticed quiet woods and a strong sour odor. They saw a very large dark-brown hair-covered figure standing across the river by brush and watched for a few minutes as it crouched to drink. The figure was gone after a loud jeep passed and distracted them.

In May 1998 the witness hiked alone to Minnehaha Falls near Lake Rabun and remained until after dark. After noticing a bad smell and a squatting figure he mistook for another hiker, he approached and saw a very tall, dark-brown, hair-covered biped that stood, walked away with long strides, then stepped toward him before leaving. The witness drew his service pistol and shouted, after which the creature walked away, and he left the area without telling anyone at the time.

The witness was driving on a highway through forest and swamp late at night when a small fox-like animal ran along and across the road. Immediately after, a large upright shaggy creature leapt across the highway in front of the car from right to left and disappeared into roadside vegetation. The witness reported a foul odor just before the sighting and glowing amber eyes reflecting the headlights, and swerved slightly before continuing home shaken.

After mimicking animal sounds in the evening, the witness stayed awake through the night hearing crashes, footsteps, grunts and mimicking speech, and saw eye shine high off the ground. In the morning the pair found a snapped tree, strong odor, widely spaced ground marks and a five-toed partial print, which the witness attributed to a large visitor.

While on night patrol, the witness responded to a companion's report of something standing by trees behind a building and shone a spotlight into the woods. A very large upright hairy creature holding a branch was seen, which then dropped the branch, looked back with red eyeshine, screamed, and ran away with a strong odor left behind. The witnesses later found a large pine branch torn from about nine feet up.

A reddish-brown hairy arm reached through thick brush very close to the witness and snapped off a limb, showing a human-like hand. Both fled immediately, later told the foreman, and returned the next day to recover the bikes but found no tracks due to rocky ground.

The witness and a relative were waiting in dense brush while bugling for elk when they heard approaching knocking, rustling and vocal sounds and noticed a strong unpleasant odor. They left the hiding spot as crashing sounds followed them uphill. Other members of the hunting party later said they had seen a figure walking on the hill where the pair had not been. The group later returned to the site and found unusual scat.

The witness and a companion were parked in a truck at a mountain road landing late at night and watched a wild boar rooting in snow. After the boar fled, an upright figure appeared at the tree line, stood over the boar's spot, and was then illuminated by high beams. The figure blocked the light, showed glowing eyes, grunted, crossed the road in three strides, grabbed a sapling and disappeared uphill, leaving a strong odor.

A woman hunting with her husband from under pine trees across a meadow noticed a dark figure that had not been there minutes earlier. She watched it through binoculars for about 15 minutes, seeing yellow eyes looking back, before leaving for camp without telling her husband why. Her husband, positioned nearby, did not see the figure but reported smelling something awful at the same time.

After daybreak, after several deer ran past appearing spooked, a tall bipedal hair-covered creature ran past the stand without stopping. The witness was tracking elk sign alone in the late afternoon when he smelled a foul odor, felt watched, then saw several large bipedal animals scatter through thick brush and fled back to camp. Around 2 a.m. the whole camping party was awakened by very loud, prolonged yowl-like screams preceded by banging sounds. The party left the area after daybreak.

As they approached, they saw a tall brown-haired creature with a manlike head and gorilla-like body kneeling at the base of the tree. The creature stood up and ran a short distance into thick mountain laurel upslope, and a foul musty odor was noticed.

There he encountered a tall, hair-covered figure pulling at the pen wire, which turned to face him before fleeing toward the forest. A relative who ran outside also saw the figure running away. No physical evidence remained the next day after an overnight thunderstorm.

The creature followed them along the bank, ran ahead to a river bend, splashed and climbed the opposite bank, then later crossed an open clearing. Two forestry workers resurveying a remote allotment for a timber harvest reported being followed at a distance while smelling a heavy stench. During a break they heard large movement in the brush, threw a piece of wood toward the sound, and then saw the backlit shadows of four hair-covered figures behind bushes in a break of sunlight. The witness described two large males standing motionless, a thin female with a hump who vocalized and wrung her hands, and a smaller child-sized figure, before the light faded and the pair left the area to finish work later.

The witness and a relative were target shooting near a lake at sunset and walked to look for deer sign. The relative reported seeing a tall hairy figure by the car while whistles were heard. As they returned to the car in the dark they encountered a strong foul odor, heard heavy running footsteps ending with a thud near a gully, and heard a grating voice-like sound before driving away.

The guest and three companions visited the quarry caretaker and walked toward the quarry pond. After smelling a musky odor and finding a large nesting area, they saw a female creature sitting by a berry bush that stood and quickly left into the woods. They tracked snapping sounds and heavy breathing with amplified equipment for over an hour until the sounds stopped near a clear-cut.
