In July 1924 near Mount St. Helens, five miners traveling between their mine and cabin encountered unknown creatures and one miner shot at one. That night the creatures retaliated by throwing rocks and trying to force entry into the cabin from all sides including the roof. The attack lasted all night until just before dawn, after which the men agreed never to speak of it.

After freezing for a couple of minutes, the witness ran past the window to get help, and a parent found no one outside.
