The witness was fishing from a boat with two young companions on Riffe Lake late in the morning when they spotted a large hairy biped about 150 yards away in a clearcut. They watched for several minutes as it walked away, paused to face and stare at them, then continued walking while looking back before disappearing into timber. The witness stated the subject was not human and was not a bear.

From across the water the witness noticed a dark shape first taken for a stump, then saw it move while soaking in the water.
