Two hunting companions in a steep canyon area reported watching a brown figure about 700 yards away across the canyon. The witnesses first thought it was a person or a bear but felt its walk looked too odd for either. The encounter is said to have occurred on a clear warm afternoon in the fall in the early 1970s.
