The witness was geocaching with three children in a rural wooded park on a sunny afternoon. They heard a very loud crashing sound about 25 to 30 feet away and briefly saw a jet-black elongated shape. They found no branch, impact mark, tracks, or other evidence on the soft ground, and the children were badly frightened.

Looking out a lit window from a few feet away, he watched a large hairy creature squat on the porch and rummage through trash bags for an extended time without showing its face. After a shot was fired into the ground, heavy running was heard moving toward the second position where glowing eyes were seen, and the group left around 2 a.m.

The observation lasted a few minutes as the car moved, with the dark figure standing out against snow and sunlight. The witness first thought it was a man but concluded a man could not have walked that slope in deep snow so easily.
