A doctor with a zoology degree drove late at night on a remote Cumberland County highway and saw deer, then large iridescent green eyes about eight feet up by a guardrail. Passing by, he glimpsed a Bigfoot side profile with heavy brow walking in the ditch, then a third set of eyes. The images replayed in his mind afterward.

The witness, a contractor who collects road-killed deer, stopped to load a fresh doe into his pickup in the early morning. While seated in the cab reaching for paperwork, he felt the truck shudder and saw in the rearview mirror a dark figure reaching into the truck bed. He drove away quickly, and when he returned minutes later the newly loaded deer and a loading ramp were gone.

On a mid-afternoon in late February 2004, a group of small children near a trailer park on the southeast edge of New Town reportedly saw a large hairy bipedal animal and fled screaming toward their trailer. The mother of two of the children rushed outside and saw the animal moving quickly away through trees. The investigator did not speak directly with this family, relying on accounts passed via tribal officials and a news reporter.

Early on February 18, 2003, the witness was driving east on Interstate 10 when lights from a passing tractor-trailer revealed a figure stepping onto the highway. He slowed, turned on high beams, and watched a tall reddish-haired non-human creature trot across both lanes and the shoulder in a few steps. The observation lasted up to about 30 seconds from about sixty to seventy yards away.

He watched for about six seconds a dark, chimpanzee-like primate about three to four feet tall standing erect on a branch. The animal appeared to look toward him before turning and disappearing into foliage; its feet and lower legs were not visible.

On the night of August 30 the witness was camping when his dog wandered from the campsite making strange noises and a figure taller than the witness with a visible silhouette and eyes kept moving toward him, reportedly walking upright. The frightened witness fled to a nearby convenience store and called 911 at 10:54 pm. No formal police report was filed because the witness would not return to the campsite with an officer.

The witness was driving on a rural highway before dawn when a large dark figure was seen in the road ahead. Two companions were resting by their vehicles while deer hunting in the early afternoon when two bipedal creatures were seen crossing a road from west to east about two-tenths of a mile away toward pines and a swamp. The lead individual was described as a 6.5-foot light-brown male walking hunched, followed about 15 yards behind by a 5.5-foot black female with breasts who appeared to be holding something at her waist. Both were said to walk without locking their knees.

The witness was waiting just inside a woodline while squirrel hunting when heavy walking approached. A tall white-covered creature with dark skin on the face and hands stood nearby with a hand on a tree and was observed for about 30 seconds. After a brief stare, the witness ran through an open field back to the house.

Two men checking trap lines on a quiet afternoon in early September 1998 encountered a hair-covered creature at about 100 feet. The creature watched them briefly before running uphill into the forest. The men described brown body hair, a low forehead, small dark eyes, huge hands, a bulky build and a foul odor, then removed their traps and did not return.

Two people in separate boats traveling along the shore of a remote lake reported seeing a gray shape that frightened them. The account was covered in a local newspaper in early July 1997 and was later summarized by an investigator who noted the witnesses were reluctant to speak with the press. Polaroid photographs are reported to have been seen by local residents, but the report provides no further descriptive detail.

On July 16, 1997, a tour guide driving tourists along a road stopped near a burned-out bridge and watched an upright, hair-covered creature for about 15 minutes from 70 to 80 yards away. The guide moved the bus forward and backward to give passengers views and tried to get a passenger with a telephoto lens to exit for photos, but no one would leave. The guide then drove away and could not relocate the creature on a later return.
