Late night sighting by a stranded boater on the St. Marys River
After their boat motor failed, two companions camped overnight by a campfire on the riverbank. Around midnight they heard something approaching through the woods, followed by loud growling, grunting, stomping and tree knocks. One of them shone a light across the narrow river and saw a head, shoulder and red eyes looking back before it retreated, continuing noise for over an hour. They left at first light and were later towed back to the landing.

The witness noticed a large dark figure standing partly behind a tree a couple hundred yards away, apparently watching them. During a winter duck hunt the witness waded out to retrieve a downed bird and noticed feathers and rhythmic splashes in flooded timber. A very large bipedal creature approached through the trees to within about 30 yards, watched the witness for about 30 seconds, made a low huff, then turned and left quickly through the water. The witness returned to companions and left the area, avoiding hunting for about a week.

The witness was awakened around 3:30 a.m. by dogs barking in an outdoor kennel and went outside with a flashlight to investigate. She noticed movement near fruit trees by the driveway and saw a very tall figure that paused behind a tree before running uphill on two legs with swinging arms. The figure looked pale silvery-gray and shaggy, glanced over its shoulder, then leapt off the road down a steep embankment into brush. Next morning she found matted grass and a hole in the bramble where it left the road, but no clear tracks.

The witness reported seeing a very large dark shaggy figure at a trail head at the edge of woods near home in mid-morning. The figure stood motionless after noticing the witness, then vanished during a brief 4-5 second glance away. A later size-comparison photo suggested the figure was much larger than the witness.

On the night of November 23 the witness shone a light from the deck toward a small woods patch behind the house to check for deer. About 160 yards away he saw a pair of large, brilliant emerald-green eyes spaced widely apart. As an experienced outdoorsman he said he had never seen eyes of that shape, brilliance and spacing, and said the sighting combined with an earlier strange vocalization made him open to a Sasquatch-type creature being present.

The witness was driving home from work around 2:30 a.m. when a large dark figure crossed the road about 50 feet ahead, moving very fast on two legs. It crossed in about two strides and disappeared into a farm field as the witness braked and turned toward it. After stopping, the witness saw nothing further and noted no tracks, attributing the lack to frozen ground.

Late at night the witness took a puppy on a leash toward the woodline behind the house and heard shuffling in the brush. A very tall, very wide dark figure stood up nearby, showing a lighter chest or stomach area in the moonlight. The witness screamed and ran inside, after which relatives went out with a light and reported seeing a large two-legged shadow run up the brushy hill and disappear while staying just out of sight.

After stepping on a stick while backing away, the witness was noticed by the creature, which turned its whole body to look before running away on two legs carrying the stick, moving gracefully and silently.

The creature left the creek, struck a tree with its hand, stomped its foot and vocalized, then ran into the forest. The witness watched for about 45 seconds and also noted a musky animal-like odor.

The witness got up early to use the restroom and looked out the back door toward the field at sunrise. From about 200 yards away, the witness saw a large dark figure cross the field from one treeline to another. The figure was described as much larger than an adult human and moving gracefully.

The witness stopped in a swampy area to target shoot and was reloading when he heard noise behind him. He turned and saw an ape-like biped watching from behind a tree a short distance away, which made a deep vocal sound. He ran to his car, saw the creature moving away through the trees, and left quickly.

The witness had just returned home in the evening and was standing inside near a south-facing window. An upright brown-haired figure walked past the window on the attached deck, visible only from the shoulders to the hips. The witness waited before turning on the porch light, but the figure was already gone.

Late at night in mid-November 2012, the witness stepped outside a basement apartment to smoke. About 140 yards to the east, the witness watched a tall cinnamon-brown figure pace back and forth for about three to four minutes near a house light before it disappeared. The figure moved smoothly with no head bob and had long shaggy head hair, with lower legs hidden by a rise in ground. After losing sight of it, the witness went inside to wake the spouse.

The witness was driving south on Route 11 in daylight when he saw a tall brown bipedal figure crossing the road ahead from the median. The figure took a few long, smooth upright strides over a guardrail and disappeared into the woods near a small overpass over water. The witness said it did not move like a deer and was not a deer or bear.

The witness was riding an ATV uphill with a young relative when a loud thumping sound prompted a look behind. The witness saw a very tall, hairy, human-like creature chasing them while carrying a small log. The witness accelerated into and across a grass field, and as they were leaving the field the creature threw the log toward them but missed. The log was gone when the witness returned the next day.

Late in the evening the witness stepped outside and saw a figure standing in shadow. The figure crossed a lit area in about one and a half steps and entered the woods, with a rotten odor noticed at the time. The witness later described the figure as a tall, muscular, graying-haired figure with long arms.

Two brothers parked for a late-night talk on a forest road when heavy footsteps surrounded the car on several sides and powerful growls approached the rear. After repositioning the car in moonlight they saw a dark shape shifting in a tree, heard heavy breathing, and watched a very tall muscular dark creature cross the road and peer from behind a stump. A second slender gray creature leapt across the road, the large one dropped to all fours and left, and the brothers later realized hours had passed.
