The only direct sighting was last week when scanning a power line edge revealed 4-5 foot high paired red eyes that ducked behind a tree and vanished.

They encountered two large dark-brown upright figures staring at them for about two minutes. When the group tried to approach, the figures walked away into the woods, with the smaller one lifting an infant-sized individual from tall grass onto its shoulder.

The responding deputy initially suspected neighbors, moonshiners or a grow operation, but later found a large hand-like dent in the house and an 18-inch footprint in the creek that he cast. The cast was later reported to show dermal ridges and to be considered authentic east of the Mississippi.

They fled back to their other companions, then the witness returned with two companions, found a large barefoot-like footprint in mud, but saw nothing else.

In the early afternoon the witness was about to enter brush ringing a stream inlet when a very tall, hair-covered human-like figure came within about 20 feet at a slow walk. The witness described its size, hair, facial features and muscular build, noting it was defensive but not threatening and made no sound. The witness withdrew to a truck without being followed, and also noted a very large track, sand mounds, possible vomit and scat, and bark damage in the same area.

The witness believes a family of creatures lives nearby, currently including a mother with young, and describes them as shy and non-threatening. The witness and a companion were camping in a tent on the witness's driveway in mid-October. Around 2 a.m. under a full moon, the witness awoke to grunting and snapping trees and saw a large hair-covered figure striking and eating a deer, then dragging it uphill. The figure approached the tent, giving off a strong musky odor and knocking a frying pan from a tree before leaving. In the morning the witness found deer remains, drag marks, and a shelter-like structure of bent and broken pines.

The witness and a companion camped separately in the North Georgia mountains after spilling bacon grease near a creek. At night the companion reported heavy footsteps, a large outline at the treeline, and large hairy bodies passing the tent while the tent was shaken violently. In the morning they found concentrated large footprints at the grease spill and the witness's own camp trashed.

On a morning walk to the bus stop, the witness and a friend noticed a mound under a street lamp that stood up and walked. It picked up a rock, turned sideways, and entered the woods. They later found a twenty-two inch foot impression where the friend had seen a swaying shadow earlier that morning.

Soon after the tree fall, the witness arrived home to find a relative firing a shotgun toward the chicken coop at a tall hairy upright figure that ran off on two legs. Shortly afterward the witness found a single large distinct footprint with visible toes beside a car in muddy ground. The print was estimated at about fourteen inches long and eight inches wide.
