The witness had parked at the road to collect firewood and was returning to the truck when a large hairy bipedal creature crossed the road about 30 yards away and entered the woods. The witness drove to the crossing point and saw yellow eye reflection looking back from the woods before it disappeared and the witness left. An investigator later visited the site with the witness and documented the road and surroundings.

At home the witness found what he believed to be a black orangutan-faced figure holding a white object in two of the photos, plus a possible smaller shape in a tree.

Laser measurement later put the distance at 63 yards with 19-inch weathered prints, suggesting about 9.5 feet tall.

A driver rounding an uphill hairpin turn noticed a tall hairy human-like figure standing behind trees on the hillside above the road. The figure turned and ran uphill through steep brush with remarkable speed and disappeared within seconds. He estimated the figure at about seven to eight feet tall, very dark with several-inch-long hair, and said it did not resemble local wildlife he knows well.
