Nighttime motorist sighting 25 miles NW of Spokane
The driver was driving south at night with three child passengers after a football game when a large dark figure was noticed in tall grass in a roadside ditch. The driver reports it was an ape-like, black-haired being crouched in the ditch that stared at the vehicle and stepped back on two legs as they passed. After passing, the driver turned around for another look but the figure was gone, which the child passengers also observed.

The witness and a companion sat around a campfire at night in a parking lot study area. From about 200 feet away they heard growl-whoop-scream vocalizations and wood-on-wood thumps, followed later by pea gravel striking the truck. Trail cameras reportedly captured gravel in motion and a large black partial figure showing shoulder, arm and open hand.

After hearing grunts and clicking mouth sounds, headlights revealed three hair-covered figures of different sizes standing near burnt trees. The largest figure gestured with its arm and vocalized loudly, then stepped toward the witness as the group retreated to the car and left. The encounter reportedly lasted about ten minutes.

The son left a family barbecue to hunt nearby and ran back reporting a tall, dark, hairy biped stepping over a wire fence about 100 yards from camp. Three relatives went to the spot minutes later and found pressed-down grass but no clear prints. They noted a strong pungent odor that lingered, but the creature had left the area.

In late June or early July 1981, the witness was sleeping on the floor of a friend's home when awakened by an unusual humming and grumbling sound. She saw the outline of a large broad-shouldered figure with a muscular arm and hand cupped to look through a high upper window, which she estimated would require at least seven feet of height. The figure looked in for about a minute, then walked around the house into the woods as the humming resumed. A search the next morning found no tracks in the hard-packed dirt.
