A group camped and hiked a short trail at night to elicit responses. After a child's whoops received an immediate whoop reply nearby, two adults who stayed behind briefly heard something approach closely then step away, seeing nothing with lights. Back in camp the group saw intermittent orange eyeshine below the ridgeline, and later heard movement around camp overnight including a camper shaking.

The primary witness was in a bedroom with an infant and stood to close the blinds when she saw a large hairy face peering in the window. She fled the room with the child in shock. Minutes later three household members arriving at the house smelled a bad odor and heard footsteps retreating into the woods east of the house, but the source stayed beyond flashlight range.

The witness was sitting at a mountain camp near water around midday when they noticed a bear-like odor and spotted movement on a nearby ridge. A dark, almost black figure initially mistaken for a man stood up from the ground and walked calmly across the ridgetop, close enough for footstep sounds to be heard, before descending out of sight. The witness emphasized the figure was much larger than a bear.
