Daylight encounter with two hunters south of Union (w/ cellphone photos)
A witness and his son were driving slowly while spotting for deer when they noticed a large dark upright figure moving through brush toward them. The son photographed it with a cellphone as it traveled parallel to the road, paused to look at them, then crossed the narrow road in two steps and vanished into dense brush. Investigators later interviewed the witnesses, examined the photos, and revisited the site for measurements.

In early fall 1996 the witness stopped to pick mushrooms near the Satsop River after checking leases. While kneeling with the dog close by, the witness smelled a strong putrid odor, stood up, and saw a large dark hairy creature standing in a fern patch about 200 feet away. They made eye contact, the creature turned its head and torso showing long arm hair, then walked quickly away. The witness left the area and told no one for a couple days.

The witness, then a child swimming with siblings, walked back alone to a swimming hole to retrieve a watch. He saw a tall dark upright figure cross his path near a fenceline and take several steps. Startled, he ran home, where family members suggested it was a deer, which he rejects.
