The witness was driving alone at night on a highway through the Black Hills when a large dark biped stepped over a guardrail onto the road very close to the car. She saw its shoulders, chest and legs beside the passenger side before it disappeared into darkness behind the vehicle. Frightened, she did not stop and immediately called her fiancé about what she had seen.

A couple driving home at night turned onto their rural street and saw a dark-haired ape-like animal in the headlights a few feet ahead. The animal avoided the lights and bounded quickly on its forelimbs in a gorilla-like manner across a neighbor's lawn before disappearing. Both adults observed the movement, though only the husband saw its fingered hands picking at the ground.

During a winter duck hunt the witness waded out to retrieve a downed bird and noticed feathers and rhythmic splashes in flooded timber. A very large bipedal creature approached through the trees to within about 30 yards, watched the witness for about 30 seconds, made a low huff, then turned and left quickly through the water. The witness returned to companions and left the area, avoiding hunting for about a week.

The witness was driving a morning bus route past a horse pasture when he noticed two upright, hair-covered figures where he did not expect trees. One figure was standing and the other was kneeling or squatting, both with their backs to the road. He noted brownish hair, pointed heads with no visible neck, and large muscular builds. On a later pass the same morning the field was empty.

The witness and their spouse were driving home in the evening when a tall black figure ran quickly across the road in front of their car. The figure was estimated at about seven feet tall and was lit by street lights and the car's headlights. The witness could not see its face.

The witness was driving on a rural highway in late afternoon when she noticed a large dark figure under a grove of trees about 150 feet away. The figure appeared to be climbing, with an arm extended overhead gripping a branch and a leg raised. In a few seconds she noted its body was level rather than sloped, its legs were distinct without belly skin, and its lighter-colored hairless-looking face without a snout turned sideways to look at her. She heard nothing because the radio was on, and found no sign at the site the next day.

Four companions camping overnight found a large fresh footprint in mud during the afternoon. Late at night they heard prolonged bark-like screams from two directions, then encountered a tall hairy figure at close range with a flashlight. The figure left up a steep bank, and the group retreated to their car while vocalizations followed them and displaced tires blocked the road.

The witness reports waking at first light as a child while sleeping on the floor of a relative's house and seeing a figure pass the bedroom window, then look in. The figure reportedly reached an arm through the open window, took jewelry from a dresser, and fled when an adult moved in bed. While deer hunting from an old road overlooking a clearing, the witness heard loud crashing moving down through a cedar thicket over about ten minutes. A black, bipedal figure then stepped out and walked quickly across the clearing. The witness left without checking for tracks, and a companion later reported loose scat with grass and hair in the crossing area.
