Late at night the witness was driving and using a spotlight near McKenzie Pass. A large silver-gray creature estimated at 8 to 9 feet tall reportedly ran across the trail. The sighting occurred around 2 a.m.

Two fishermen hiking toward a small lake near Linton Lake approached what they first thought was a bear feeding in a meadow. The animal stood up and faced them from about 100 feet away. After a standoff in which one man reached for a gun and the other stopped him, the creature slung a deer carcass over its shoulder and walked into the woods while the men fled to their truck.

Later that night a companion who had run toward the creek reported seeing a hunched figure looking at her while climbing the embankment.
