Resident observes a sasqautch chasing herd of deer east of Bethel
The witness was sitting in a parked car in a driveway talking on the phone in the late afternoon. The witness noticed about 30 deer running quickly across a yard beyond a creek. Seconds later a very tall, solid black upright figure appeared following the deer, walking steadily and pausing briefly behind trees. The witness watched it from about 100 yards away and estimated it was 8 to 10 feet tall by comparison to the deer.
Encounters on rural property a few miles from Housatonic River outside Bethel
Late at night the witness arrived home and got out of the car with a young dog, which ran toward a brushy stone wall barking aggressively. The witness shone a flashlight and watched a dark bulky shape with bright reddish-orange eyes move slowly, crouch behind a tree and peer out before standing taller. The witness first assumed it was a bear but later concluded it was a sasquatch.
Daylight encounter on railroad bed near lower Paugussett State Park
The witness was walking along railroad tracks toward a friend's house when they tripped, looked up, and saw a tall dark figure ahead. The figure looked at the witness, then quickly ran off the tracks, up a small embankment, and into the woods within seconds. The witness described it as very tall, fully covered in dark hair, and making no noise.

In 1953 three young children were picking blackberries near a railroad track when a tall hair-covered biped came down a steep hillside and walked north along the tracks, looking at them briefly. The witness recalled long arms, a long stride, a primate-like face, and a thin build with short dark hair. The children ran back to the cottage to tell parents, who dismissed the account.
