YESTERDAY (10/13/2024): Daylight sighting exactly 10.0 miles south of Forks on Hwy 101
Two people driving north on Highway 101 slowed for a construction traffic light in the early evening and saw a very tall, dark-furred bipedal figure at the tree line about 15 yards from the road. The figure pushed alder trees aside as it hurried into the woods and disappeared within about five seconds. Both witnesses, who report frequent bear sightings, stated they were certain it was not a bear.
Daytime road crossing near Forks
The witness was riding in a car on LaPush Road in mid-morning when a tall creature crossed the road in front of traffic. The witness described it moving fluidly with a very long stride, clearing the pavement in two to three steps and entering very thick woods. Other drivers also swerved to avoid hitting it.
Possible nighttime encounter while camping at Shi Shi Beach
Three backpackers sleeping on a beach woke around 3:45 a.m. when their dog ran to a nearby ridge and grappled with something. The witness ran over and saw an enormous figure in the dark that stayed silent when challenged. A companion later saw a torso-like figure put a hand on a rock at the top of the ridge and disappear, and reported an elk-like moaning sound during the struggle.

The witness was sitting on steps behind employee housing talking on the phone at sunset when a large figure appeared in old-growth forest. The figure moved diagonally across her view at a fast walk without coming toward her or looking at her, then was gone after a few seconds. She was terrified, ran away crying, then looked back with curiosity.

The witness was hiking alone and resting below the parking area when they spotted two tall, uniformly dark figures walking on a distant trail. Viewed through binoculars, the figures carried no gear and one walked with its head down and long arms swinging widely. After checking the lot and finding no other car, the witness left the area quickly.

The witness drove to the end of a forest road and walked to the river to fish alone in the morning. After casting, he heard cracking across the river and saw bushes moving and a large brown figure without clear details. Two trees snapped and fell uphill as the figure moved upslope into dense forest, and the frightened witness left the area quickly.
Sighting by a school group on summer field trip
During a multi-day school hiking trip, the witness was with the lead group returning along a beach when a large black hairy biped was seen at a stream, bent over and reaching into the water. After the group watched it move toward the ocean, someone shouted Bigfoot, at which point it stood upright, looked at the group briefly, then walked back into the forest. Teachers later told students it was a naked camper and told them to drop the subject.
Woman recalls afternoon sighting as a child near Port Angeles
In fall 1983 five children playing in a driveway noticed a pastured buffalo act spooked, then a tall dark biped across a creek and field. The witness stared at what looked like a dark stump under a tree that then ran bipedally with long swinging arms before turning back toward the woods when the children screamed. The next day they found flattened grass but no footprints where it had run and where it entered the woods on a deer path.
Nighttime sighting by motorist on Hwy 101 (Coast Highway), 7-8 miles east of Port Angeles
The witness was driving east on Highway 101 after work when headlights revealed a tall hair-covered figure. The figure crossed the four-lane highway north to south in a few rapid, fluid strides, glanced toward the vehicle, and disappeared into tall dry grass toward the foothills.
Possible encounter with soldier training training in the Olympic National Forest
The witness was taking part in a nighttime military training exercise in a forested area in 1966 and was returning alone to the company area around 3-4 a.m. He noticed the outline of a large upright figure coming down a steep sandy hill toward a logging road while hearing footsteps and shifting dirt. When he challenged the figure, it responded with a loud growl, and he ran to the campfire without hearing pursuit. He initially told others the pursuer was a bear but later concluded it had walked on two legs and was a bigfoot.

Four people were quietly walking horses along a trail in rainy conditions when a black creature about eight feet tall stood up from a stooped position beside the trail and ran away, leaving a foul odor. The group did not look for footprints.
