Military officer recalls possible daylight sighting while driving in the Croatan National Forest

Three people driving on a forest road in the early afternoon came around a bend and saw a very large dark bipedal figure about 75 yards ahead walking toward them. After a few seconds the figure turned and walked into the woods. They drove to the spot, stopped and waited briefly, but saw nothing further and found no tracks on the hard dry ground.
