The witness was picking brush for sale near an old skid road when he heard loud growls, squeals, and brush breaking. He climbed a side hill and saw a still dark bear draped over a vine maple, then noticed a very large dark-brown biped standing about 50 feet away with its back turned. The creature turned and stared with red glowing eyes, prompting the witness to flee to his truck screaming, after which he refused to return to the woods and his crew left the area.
Second-hand report of creature looking in at woman through window
About two decades ago a woman washing dishes at night saw a large hairy-faced man looking through the window above her sink. Police were called and during the subsequent search an officer saw a tall man-like figure run across a highway. Very large tracks with a long stride were found but dogs could not track anything and the figure vanished into river bottoms. A later visitor examined a cast and said weight distribution argued against a fake shoe.

A female forestry technician was alone checking a cutblock and walking out on an old road in the afternoon when she noticed she was being watched. She turned and saw a tall, dark-brown furry animal with long arms walk with bent knees for two strides before hiding behind a large boulder. A truck driver was sitting in his truck at night on the outskirts of a swamp during an oil loading operation. He reported a strong gamey smell and, after turning on the headlights, saw a large ape-like creature with red eyes staring at him. He panicked and drove away with the loading hose still attached, spilling oil, and afterward refused to do night loads.

Three residents described separate encounters in early June 1973 with a human-sized creature that chased them. The creature was said to be about 5 feet 8 inches tall and broad-shouldered, with red eyes sensitive to light, a musty odor, and silent movement. One man told police it tore his shirt and scratched his chest.

The witness's mother was talking on the telephone on the screened porch when the outside dogs began barking intensely. She saw a large beige animal crouched at the edge of the woods about 1000 yards from the house. The creature stood upright, looked toward the house, then walked into the woods, after which the dogs calmed; the encounter lasted about 15-20 seconds.

A witness was with a berry-picking group when a tied horse began struggling against its tree. The witness heard the commotion, approached the horse, and saw a hairy manlike creature after the horse. The creature then ran into the brush, and the group left the area.
Sighting along side of road by teens walking home from a party
The witness's great-aunt recounted that as a young girl around 1905 she and two siblings were walking home from a party at night when they saw a dark-haired, man-like thing sitting in a field beside the road. The entity silently watched them and turned its head as they passed, its eyes reflecting the moonlight. The three walked home arm in arm, with one looking back to check if it was following.
