The witness was waiting alone in a deer stand before dawn on opening day. She noticed two steady red eye-like lights about 30 feet away that blinked after she blinked. She then heard loud movement through leaves toward an old road, followed by a whoop that rose from low to very loud, before the source moved away along a ridge.

A family was camped in a trailer near a treeline with a deer carcass stored nearby. During the night the family was awakened by rocks hitting the trailer, knocking sounds, growls, screams and whoops. The witness later went outside with a flashlight and saw a single glowing red eye high in the treeline. In the morning stacked rocks were gone, footprints were found, and a large pine by the carcass had been pushed over.

The witness and three relatives were hog hunting at night from two positions separated by several hundred yards. The witness and his son were camping in a tent near a swamp when they were awakened by a loud unusual vocalization, followed by prolonged loud whistling that seemed to circle the camp. The witness and her husband were awakened after midnight by strange sounds from their children's bedroom heard through a baby monitor, including squeaking at the window and a thump against the house wall. After the husband turned on exterior lights, the witness saw a large shadow move quickly away from the house toward nearby woods. Shortly after, both heard a very loud double whoop vocalization twice, which the husband said could not have been an owl.

Three people camped on an island area at Keystone Lake and heard repeated grunting and howl-like vocalizations after midnight. After two people kayaked back to the cars and two returned, the two in kayaks had two very large rocks land in the water near them as they approached shore in darkness. One had earlier seen green eyeshine near the campsite on the first return. Finding no other people on the island, they packed up and left during the night.

A couple camping on an isolated site finished dinner and sat by a campfire when the wife felt watched and fearful. The husband searched with lights and briefly saw movement in the trees about 30 feet away, including what looked like a large dark lower leg. While inside the trailer the wife heard two to three whooping sounds from that wooded area.
