The witness and a companion were driving home in the evening when they rounded a corner and saw a large upright grayish-black animal standing in the middle of the road. The animal took a few strides and disappeared into the surrounding heavy woods. The witness estimated it was about seven feet tall and said its face was obscured by hair.

On opening morning of deer season two cousins riding in the back of a pickup scanning a sage meadow spotted a large dark figure about 250 yards away. They watched it for about 10 seconds as it faced them, slightly bent forward with an arm on its knee, appearing motionless. When the truck stopped and backed up to regain the view the figure was gone. The cousins continued hunting that morning while feeling as if watched.
Memory told of a possible sighting while parked in a car near Granite City
While a dating couple sat talking in a parked car near woods and lakes, the woman saw a large dark figure standing behind the car about 10 to 15 feet away. She reacted with sudden shock and told her companion what she had seen. The figure moved away and had disappeared by the time both occupants looked back, so only the woman directly saw it.

After hearing a loud noise described as like a scream, they saw a very large dark man-like form walking very near them. Both children dropped everything and ran home without looking back.

A year after hearing loud growls in the same area, the witness and a companion were scouting without rifles. While driving and looking for wildlife, they stopped to watch an animal grazing at a distance that moved toward the companion on all fours. When the companion made noise, it stood upright on two legs, appearing tall with a light underside, before retreating into the woods.
