Bow hunter has sighting near Little Boulder Lk. Mt. Hood Nat. Forest, OR
The witness was archery hunting on a trail at dusk after separating from a companion to go different directions. After hearing an unfamiliar deep yelping sound and then loud wood-splintering, the witness saw a head-and-shoulders shape with no visible neck beyond a log. When the shape swiveled slightly, the witness backed away and returned quickly to the vehicle, visibly frightened.
Nighttime encounter by a worker at a logging site
In summer 1968 the witness was working alone at night installing radio equipment on a yarder at a remote logging landing in Oregon. After dark he felt watched and twice saw bright eyes, the second time discerning a large wide black shape about 20 feet away, accompanied by a repulsive odor. He left the site for the night and returned at daylight, finding no footprints. The next morning a crew member showed him heavy barrels that had been moved, which the witness associated with the animal.
Daytime sighting by young camper at Lost Lake
While hiking near a creek behind a store at Lost Lake, the witness saw a crouched dark-gray figure that looked like a fallen tree or stump. The witness left to retrieve a camera, marking the spot with a rock pile. When returning about 15 minutes later, the figure was gone and the rock pile had been knocked over. A companion was also present and saw the figure.
