The figure dropped to all fours, moved into the road, then stood bipedally and crossed slowly in front of the car, forcing a brake. Both occupants agreed it was not a bear or monkey and described it as about four and a half to five feet tall, dark brown and ape-like.

In 1985 on a Saturday mid-morning, the witness was driving north on U.S. 41 toward Chicago when they looked east into a shallow depression with a stream about 100-150 yards away. They observed a large, very broad, dark-colored figure walking away with visibly swinging arms for 4-5 seconds until trees blocked the view, with tall grass obscuring its lower legs. The witness turned around to re-check the spot minutes later but nothing was there.

The witness looked out the kitchen window and saw a tall hair-covered biped running into the canyon with a side-to-side motion. The witness ran to alert parents, but by the time they reached the window it was gone except for a brief last glimpse between bushes.

Four teenagers walking north from a family hunting camp stopped on a steep two-track when they saw a tall, broad, dark figure standing in the middle of the road at the hilltop staring at them. After watching for about one to two minutes, they turned and ran back to camp without seeing what it did. Poorly defined pushed-in depressions were later noticed in soft gravel and sand in the general area.
