He noticed steam rising from what looked like a broken tree, then saw eyes turn toward him and recognized two hairy figures, a smaller one that fled by jumping over rocks and logs and a larger one squatting on its heels. Early one sunny morning, the witness looked out a bathroom window and saw a jet-black, ape-like figure running bipedally along the backyard fence. The figure ran silently and fluidly over uneven leaf-covered ground with its arms held like a human runner, then disappeared into the woods. About a minute later the witness heard repeated rock-knocking sounds from the woods. A later inspection of the area found no footprints.

Late at night at home, the witness and three companions heard banging on the deck and went outside to investigate. In moonlight they saw a large shape kneeling on the lawn that stood and ran across the lawn, through a puddle, and up a driveway. The group later heard low growling and groaning, and the following afternoon the witness found a large footprint in a nearby sandbox.

The witness was driving with two companions when they saw a hair-covered figure move between tree groups across a meadow and later stand at the far end of the meadow. On the afternoon of May 9, 2002, the witness was traveling toward Mt. St. Helens and looked down into the Toutle wash. The witness saw a dark, long-armed figure walking through the creek heading northeast for about 5 seconds, judging it much larger than a man from its stride. The driving companion did not see it. They stopped and scanned the area for 10-15 minutes with no further movement, but noted disturbed ground where it appeared to leave the woods.

After hearing large movement behind him, the witness retreated to the trail and watched the first being stand upright and stare, as a second much larger dark being appeared beside it before he ran home.

After completing a kayak scout of a San Juan River section, the witness drove at dusk to retrieve his truck. Companions ahead alerted him by radio that the passenger saw something near an old sheep corral. He then briefly saw the back of a tall, skinny, gray figure with long arms and a pointy head in his headlights before it left quickly.

After a few seconds of mutual staring the creature left quickly and no further sounds were heard overnight. They left in the morning and found no tracks due to ice.

A very large silver-gray biped walked upright along a raised road about 75 feet away, taking several strides through a clearing before disappearing. The witness ran to the road, called out, and drove the area but found nothing, and a next-morning search found no tracks.
