He fired in front of it to deter it; it stopped, stood, grunted, and a smaller one emerged crying before both left. He abandoned his gear and found it ransacked the next day.

The witness noted a dome-like head, very large shoulders, and long arms hanging straight down while the shoulders twisted with movement. About a minute later a strong foul odor was noticed, followed minutes later by a series of loud hoots. The next morning the witness found large human-like barefoot tracks in sand.

He viewed it in left-side profile for only two to three seconds as he passed, noting its tall lean build, long arms, slouched posture, and thigh hair. When he checked the rear mirror it was gone, and a return visit the next day found only a well-used trail.
