The witness was riding in a vehicle at night on a winding redwood highway toward Mt Madonna in early fall 1980 when the car rounded a turn. She claims she saw a huge brown hair-covered biped walking upright along the side of the road with its back to her. Her companion did not see the figure but recalls her frightened reaction, and they continued to their destination.

Two brothers scouting a deer-hunting area stopped on a mountaintop logging road in the morning and saw two upright, dark, muscular figures on a nearby mountaintop about 300-500 yards away. The larger figure walked to an overlook, looked toward the witnesses for about 30 seconds, then both figures walked away over the mountain. The witnesses then drove to a fork below, spoke briefly with a horseback rider, and later mentioned the sighting in town.

While conducting security rounds in daylight, the witness and a coworker watched across a ravine where children were playing by a creek. They observed a very tall, hair-covered, man-shaped figure moving quickly uphill, pausing on the crest to look back before going out of view. They later drove to the spot and compared its height to an 11-foot tree.

The witness was squirrel hunting in a small farm woodlot on a sunny mid-morning when noisy birds in the underbrush drew attention. At a bend in a lane the witness saw a tall reddish-brown hairy biped standing off the trail about 25 yards away and they stared at each other without moving. After a standoff the creature raked berries from a shrub and ate them while glancing between the shrub and the witness. The witness slowly backed away out of sight, then walked fast and ran from the woodlot.

The witness saw the same object from behind as it moved through brush about 75 yards away. Both were frightened and left immediately without hearing or smelling anything.

Two occupants in a van late at night braked for a large bipedal animal crossing the road. The passenger described a close, brief view in the headlights as the animal passed the van and left the roadway in a few steps. An oncoming vehicle left the road into a ditch during the encounter. The occupants discussed what they had seen after driving on.

In summer 1980 the witness and a companion were hanging out listening to the radio on a moonlit trail when a companion pointed out a hunched figure holding a small tree about 30 feet away. They shouted at it, advanced for a better look, then fled home in fear. The next day they compared descriptions and agreed closely.

The animal stood upright, watched them for a short time, then walked to the treeline while continuing to watch them before disappearing into the trees in large steps. The witness walked to help a relative who had run out of gas near a creek bed, where both noticed a foul smell and movement in the weeds. As they left on foot, the witness saw a tall, thick-haired biped approaching quickly and both ran toward home while it followed without catching them. When they reached their driveway they turned and saw it running into roadside weeds before going inside.

Two children testing walkie-talkies in dense woods noticed a dark-faced figure watching them from behind a fallen tree. After several minutes of it shifting position and studying them, they backed away, saw it rise and place its hands on the trunk, then screamed and ran. They heard a loud crack and glimpsed the black, powerfully built biped running away almost silently.
Sighting by bow hunter / motorist at 6:30 AM near Butte Creek
Around 6:30 a.m. the witness was driving down into a campground area when they noticed a large dark shape moving through willows along a creek about 200 yards downstream from a bridge. The figure first looked like a person but moved with a very fluid walk and pronounced arm swing unlike a person. By the time the witness alerted a companion the figure was gone, and a later check of the gravelly area found disturbed rocks but no footprints.

Around 1980-81 the witness was hiking with two companions in an overgrown pasture and smelled a strong stench in an abandoned trailer. Later near a forked canal, the witness saw a brownish entity with a humanoid head across the canal that raised its arms as they approached. The group was frightened, ran home, and did not return for years.

The figure, visible from the waist up, turned its head to look at the group, after which all three left the creek and walked to their car. The father reportedly identified it aloud as Bigfoot.

Three college students walked back to their dorms along railway tracks at night after buying snacks. Ahead of them a dark shape crossed the tracks and briefly blocked a distant streetlight. A short distance later they smelled a strong wet-dog odor and the reporter saw a tall creature at close range with shining eyes. The group fled to their dorm, later drove back for another look without approaching closely, and the reporter retrieved dropped groceries the next day.

Three children exploring deep woods came to a wide stream and saw two hair-covered figures crouched on the opposite bank drinking. The figures stared at the children for about 30 seconds, then one made a hand motion and both turned and ran into the woods. The children ran the opposite way until out of the woods.

While riding motorcycles on a dirt road near the lake with a companion, the witness crested a hill and saw a dark, large-bodied figure standing by a tree about 75 yards away. After the pair glanced at each other, the figure was gone when they looked back. The pair fled to camp and later agreed on its broad, neckless appearance with an oversized head.
Hiking deaf Boy Scouts have midday sighting near Cape Horn Lake
A group of six scouts hiking toward a third lake on a midday break claimed an encounter with a biped. Three of the group saw a tall, broad, brownish-haired biped cross the trail from left to right about 75 feet ahead in one to two seconds. The three were shaken and described the same appearance to the other three, who had been engaged in sign conversation and had not seen it. The group approached the crossing site by a small meadow but found nothing further.

The witness was spending the summer with family at a mountain property with a cabin and livestock. Near dusk after dinner, a relative ran back frightened and the family gathered at the doorway to look toward the well. The witness saw a grayish-brown hairy figure kneeling at the well as if drinking or washing, which then looked over its shoulder revealing manlike features, frightening the witness who ran inside to hide.

The witness and a companion were descending from a mountain summit in the afternoon when the witness noticed a dark humanlike figure standing in the pass above them. Both watched as the figure waved its very long arms up and down over its head in a way they felt was threatening. Clouds then covered the pass, and the two continued down to the trailhead.

A dark, man-like figure covered in black hair was seen at close range; it swayed, appeared to study the witness, and started to approach.
