Two relatives driving slowly while hunting for grouse were alerted to a large dark figure in a grassy ditch beside a side road. They backed up and watched the upper body of the tall, long-armed figure move slowly upright into the woods. At the site they noticed a strong foul odor and minor ground disturbance but no clear footprints on packed gravel. Later the same day a game warden told them that spot was known for similar reports.

The witness was driving on Highway 73 in the early afternoon when he saw a large brown animal squatting by the roadside. As he approached, it stood bipedally and crossed the highway in three steps into a swampy area. The witness saw only from the mid-shoulders up for a few seconds before turning toward the companion and looking back to find it gone. The companion did not see the figure but heard movement and footfalls, and a strong musky odor was noticed as the figure moved away.

A witness and a relative were carrying camping gear to canoes in the afternoon when they heard an extremely loud bellow followed by muffled talking-like sounds. The witness retrieved a shotgun and moved toward a river point while the relative watched from the canoes. The witness heard heavy footsteps and brush movement heading toward the rapids but saw nothing, and found dry crossing rocks with no splashing. He concluded whatever made the sounds must have leapt rock to rock to cross.

While bow hunting in a creek bottom the witness heard an extremely loud deep scream from several hundred yards away, after which a doe ran an odd looping route and bedded down. After dark he heard child-like giggling and overlapping chatter from about 50 yards moving through water and brush deeper into the woods. He waited until it passed, then left with a light on and an arrow nocked.

Around 8 a.m. the noises stopped and they heard something large running on a nearby island, accompanied by a very bad odor. They later found many large tracks around their island, plus a pile of clam shells and a large indentation that had not been there earlier.

The witness stepped into the yard on a Sunday night and heard frantic dog barking and wolf howling overlain by loud, prolonged wailing unlike any known animal. The wailing source held position briefly then moved rapidly northeast around the lake, causing underbrush disturbance and loud ice crushing before falling silent. The background animals also fell silent, then erupted again minutes later without the wailing resuming.

That night they heard a loud splash near their island camp, and at dawn found a very large wet footprint by their canoes before leaving the area.

Three men were on a fishing and camping trip near Lake of the Woods when they saw a tall hairy figure watching them from behind a tree. The figure ran away bipedally, and a rotten stench was noticed in the area. As the men walked along railroad tracks bordered by swamp, a football-sized rock flew past them from the side with no one visible, and they later saw the figure run across the tracks ahead of them. They returned to camp and told local residents, some of whom said they had also seen a hairy person.
