When they shone a light into the woods about 25 yards away, they saw a very tall fur-covered figure that ducked behind a tree. They put out their fire and fled down the trail, saying the figure followed them most of the way back.

The witness sprinted across the highway and jumped a fence into a friend's pool area, after which the creature was gone.

He sprinted across a busy highway to a friend's house, jumped the pool fence, and hid underwater until he felt safe.

The witnesses struggled to control their horses and left the area without returning.
