After feeling uneasy in young fir trees and hearing a loud snap near a brush pile, they noticed something pacing them in brush. About 100 yards from the paved road they saw the head and shoulders of a seven-foot dark silhouette between poplar trees at sunset; it shifted its weight, confirming it was solid, and they retreated to the road.
