The witness and companions were hunting and camping by a gravel pit near a pond. In the late evening they noticed a strong odor from across the water and two of them crossed a dike to investigate. They heard growls and vegetation shook violently, so they retreated. Through the night they heard moaning and howls and had rocks and limbs thrown toward them from across the pond, finding no tracks the next morning.

The dogs refused to leave the porch while reacting to movement in an adjacent tobacco field. Two hikers returning up a dry creek bed in late afternoon smelled a strong foul odor and noticed a dead squirrel placed over a boot print. From a short distance away they heard loud banging like wood striking trees, saw treetops swaying, then heard very loud groaning and screaming vocalizations. The sounds paused while they walked away and resumed when they stopped, until they left the area.

The witness was walking alone on an old logging road into the forest when he noticed a dark, robust, hairy being crouched in thick brush watching him. The being paralleled him for 20-25 minutes, then crouched low when approached, producing a strange odor and low growl. After hearing large movement behind him, the witness retreated to the trail and watched the first being stand upright and stare, as a second much larger dark being appeared beside it before he ran home.
