On the first night in a long-empty cabin the witness heard hours of loud cracking and later found large bark strips lined up on the ground. The next afternoon he and his son smelled a strong odor and found a large scat pile by the cabin steps. Two companions were camping by a slough around 1 a.m. when loud whooping and moaning calls were heard from about 30 feet behind them and then repeated louder and closer. Their small dog cowered in the tent and stayed silent. They fled in their vehicle leaving gear behind, and the next day found the tent open, food missing, bedding disturbed, and a large unidentified footprint nearby.

Two people were riding horses in single file a few hundred yards from a corral in the early to mid afternoon. The horses became nervous with ears moving back and forth, and a strong dirty wet-dog odor was noticed. Two closely grown intertwined trees nearby began shaking violently from about five to six feet up, though nothing could be seen between the branches. The riders focused on controlling the startled horses and then turned back toward the corral.

The witness walked to and waited at a bus stop around 6:15 when loud howling, screams and growls were heard repeatedly over several minutes from a large wooded area about 100 meters away. In fall 2007 five young men walked into semi-dense woods at night and noticed a strong foul odor. Brush began shaking violently and with flashlights they saw broad shoulders moving through vegetation, then noticed something running down a hill and a large fallen tree that had been moved from its prior position. As they left the valley they again heard movement and saw a crouched figure shimmying through thick brush before fleeing the area frightened.

The witness stopped to watch as it stepped over a barbed-wire fence in one stride and walked away into the fog without looking toward them.
