The witness was driving home with her son at dusk when a tall, dark-furred biped with long arms crossed the road in front of their vehicle in about three strides and entered the woods. After pulling into the driveway, they noticed a strong rotten odor and heard branches breaking and a high-pitched woot sound. They went inside, and the odor was gone when the witness returned outside an hour later.

A group staying overnight in cabins was awakened around 3 to 4 AM by loud wood-on-wood knocking that continued on and off for about five minutes. The witnesses could not determine the direction or distance of the sounds. Some in the group had noticed a foul odor earlier that night, and a dog had reacted aggressively to something across the hollow the previous evening.

Three occupants of a car driving home around 2 a.m. noticed a dark shape in a roadside ditch by a bridge. When the driver backed up, the figure stood up, leaned over briefly, then rushed toward the car covering distance very quickly. The driver accelerated away and the occupants saw it enter the road behind them. They described a large thick-built figure with coarse hair, a large belly, round head and no neck, and noted a terrible skunk-like odor.

In September 2003 the witness and a hunting partner were coon hunting at night in a cornfield in Ohio with two hounds. The dogs went silent and their radio trackers gave no signal, then something large circled the men in the corn with audible running and heavy breathing. A large amount of foul-smelling clear slime splattered onto the partner, and the men retreated to the truck to find both dogs cowering underneath, unwilling to load.

While driving south on Route 77 near Salt Fork Lake State Park in the early morning, the witness saw a huddled shape against the guardrail and first thought it was a bear that had been hit. After backing up, the witness watched from about 15 to 20 feet away as the shape stood on two legs, stepped over the guardrail, and walked into the woods. The observation lasted about 15 to 20 seconds in moonlight and was followed by a strong skunk-like odor; the witness stayed in the car out of fear.

Late at night the witness stepped outside to retrieve a dog and noticed an extremely strong body-odor smell. The witness then saw a long reddish-haired creature squatting motionless near the corner of the house without looking toward them. They heard growls and vegetation shook violently, so they retreated. Through the night they heard moaning and howls and had rocks and limbs thrown toward them from across the pond, finding no tracks the next morning.

They later played an online recording of reported howling that they felt sounded exactly the same. Two boys were playing near a creek valley across from a house and waded into the water after hearing movement in the brush. One of them noticed a large very dark brown monkey- or gorilla-like creature watching them from behind bushes on the far bank. During a July camping trip at Beaver Creek State Park, the guest hit trees with a staff and then a strong foul odor appeared. Around 2:30 a.m. a large limb whooshed through still air and thudded near camp. The next night something handled a food box, crackled a tarp, urinated by a tree, left a tarp corner neatly folded, and left a rolled ball of pine pitch on a tent.

They watched two large greyish furry figures, one pounding and shaking a thin tree and the other digging in snow, while noticing a foul odor. The creatures vocalized and ran off when they noticed the witnesses, who briefly tried to follow before giving up.

A woman took three children to play in a shallow river area in the evening. After hearing responsive whistling sounds and a tree being pushed down nearby, the group fled to their vehicle. The child who briefly lagged behind later described seeing a brown hair-covered creature walking toward him.

The witness was driving away from a private lake late at night when a small hairy biped ran across the road into the front of the car. The impact caused major front-end damage and left fur and blood, and the witness heard a thud as the animal hit the pavement. While slowing, the witness heard a loud roar from the treeline and later heard crashing and growling alongside the road while driving around the lake, feeling chased.

Two relatives were at a tree house in the evening when one noticed squawking birds, a shaking tree, and a long tail. After regrouping in the tree house, they fled toward a vehicle when a creature reportedly jumped from the tree and ran toward them. They reached the house highly frightened and later refused to return alone.
