The witness was deer hunting along a road in the morning when he approached what he first took for a bear. At close range he described an upright, very large creature with a strong odor that noticed him, grunted, and quickly climbed a hillside and disappeared over a ridge. He reported shaking with fear and being unable to shoot despite carrying a rifle.

The witness and a relative were sitting on a hill near outbuildings watching a hollow at night when a passing car's lights revealed a tall standing figure below them. The figure turned toward them, and after the car passed they heard breathing and running coming uphill toward them. Both fled to the nearby house and heard nothing further that night.

The witness was driving south on Route 55 near Seneca Rocks late at night in rain while towing a trailer when he saw a tall hair-covered biped about 20 feet away. He turned around, shined headlights and a flashlight into the woods, then heard movement through brush, vocalizations and wood pounding for several minutes before silence. He returned the next day, found apparent footprints, and photographed them.

A woman and a child went to a relative's house to feed a dog. The child chased the dog around the house out of sight, then screamed and ran back saying a monkey-like creature growled and ran into the woods, later adding there was a little one with its mother. The woman did not see the creature but heard movement in the brush.

In January 2005 the witness walked to meet her young daughter at the school bus in the afternoon. Upon returning toward the house they saw a tall brown man-like figure standing motionless by the porch and staring. They watched it from ground level and then from the upstairs porch while the child tossed pebbles, but it did not move. They went inside without seeing it leave, and overnight snow covered any possible tracks.

Late at night at a farm home, the witness and a companion looked out the back door after the dogs barked then went quiet. They saw a large hair-covered creature near a mineral feeder that rose onto two legs, looked toward them, then walked upright toward a hay field while swinging its arms. They also heard heavy breathing and a gruff sound and noticed a foul odor during the stare.

The witness was walking with a dog on a gravel road through woods when she heard repeated banging like something striking a tree. Two rocks were then thrown from the woods and narrowly missed her as she hurried away. Near a bend in the road she heard a loud low growl followed by a scream and fled running. She later learned a family member had been home the whole time and days later saw a large oddly shaped footprint near the roadside.

In June 2001 the witness's children discovered large footprints in the field behind the family mobile home and photographed them. About a week later the children heard something running across the hillside while playing at the creek, and the family dog chased it and later returned covered in slime. The children later encountered large rocks rolling toward them on the hill, and the witness heard a loud prolonged growl, with a horrible unidentified odor lingering after the hillside activity.

The witness was climbing a steep ridge before dawn with hunting gear when his light revealed three or four sets of yellow eyes about 60 yards ahead. One set rose vertically and maintained eye contact as the group moved off across a hollow without showing deer traits like a white tail or snort. Shortly after, a heavy object landed near him, which he later interpreted as thrown, followed by guttural vocalizations unlike known wildlife and a skunky odor at a suspected bedding area.

The witness and a companion were camped in a remote glen for a weekend trip. Around 2:30 a.m. the witness woke to camp disturbance and a deer, then sensed a large presence watching the tent from nearby pines, hearing breathing and later branches moving. Next morning the witness and companion found a single large human-like footprint near the pines, which the companion then smudged.

That night the group heard loud piercing screams in the forest and smelled a strange skunk- and sweat-like odor, and the witness sounded a personal alarm which seemed to drive something away. The witness and a companion were working for about a month at a remote camp near Spruce Knob. On one night by the campfire the witness heard low vocal sounds and three grunts directly behind him. Both men yelled and ran toward the woods, hearing something large moving away through the trees but seeing nothing when a flashlight was used.

The witness and a young relative were walking by a lake at night while camping when they heard a commotion. They watched two very large black upright figures and then a third taller one stripping branches and bark from trees for about 15 minutes from about 125 feet away before running back to their camper. The next day the witness returned to find stripped trees and limbs piled at their bases.

The witness was deer hunting from an old tree stand on a mountain crest in the morning and dozed off. A strong odor and rustling woke the witness to see a small reddish-brown hair-covered biped below eating discarded fruit. A much larger black hair-covered biped then approached vocalizing, the two interacted and appeared to notice the witness before leaving, and a hunting companion nearby also reported seeing a large upright figure moving fast through trees.

In summer 1987, the witness and two companions were resting on a rock after swimming and fishing at a swimming hole on the Gauley River when the area went quiet. They saw a large, dark-brown, two-legged animal standing in a clearing across the river watching them for about two minutes before it left up the bank and out of hearing up the hillside. The next day the witness revisited the spot and judged the animal had been at least seven feet tall.

The guest and his younger brother were on summer vacation at their grandfather's hillside house in West Virginia. After the younger brother fled the back bedroom saying a hairy face had pushed through the unscreened window while sniffing the air, both boys ran outside and, in headlights reflected off the siding, watched a dark bipedal figure go down the rear embankment and crash through a dense briar thicket. The next morning their uncle turned pale when told and warned them to stay out of the back.

Five people drove to a rural spot at night to hang out. After dogs in a hollow below barked then fell suddenly silent, the group heard movement in brush and saw a tall fur-covered figure stand at the hill edge making huffing sounds. When the driver turned on the car headlights the figure covered its face and moved behind trees as the group fled in the car.
