Deer hunters report loud whoops at night 8 miles northwest of Nocona
The witness and a relative were camped in a tent on a deer lease near a creek and river in Texas. Late at night they heard distant whooping calls that approached along the water to close range and continued for over an hour, ending with a deep powerful growl while the surrounding woods went silent. The witness reported falling asleep out of fear during the sounds, and no visual encounter was described.

Over about four years the household noticed odd sounds, smells and disturbances around their wooded Texas property. They heard voice-like calls, hoots, growls and repeated wood knocks, found scat, stripped and snapped trees, and missing bait. The witness and three relatives were hog hunting at night from two positions separated by several hundred yards. Around midnight they heard bipedal footsteps, grunting, whistling, whoops and reciprocal tree knocks, smelled a strong foul odor, and had small sticks thrown at their position. After a shot was fired into the ground, heavy running was heard moving toward the second position where glowing eyes were seen, and the group left around 2 a.m.

The witness reports nearly a year of interaction at a rural home property where food left in a tree was taken, rocks were tossed near family members, vocalizations and a strong odor were noted, and a large hairy figure was partly seen beside a tree. The family came to view the main animal as a gentle female and believed several others including young were present. Activity is said to have faded after new homes were built nearby.

The witness was outside a residence near a wooded creek around midnight when loud whoops, heavy approaching footfalls, a mildew odor, and a howling dog were noticed. A tall dark man-shaped figure then appeared in a moonlit clearing in the creek bed about 30 yards away. The figure faced the witness briefly then moved out of the light into the woods, and the witness went back inside.
Evening worker hears vocalizations, smells strong odor in Big Thicket
The witness was walking down a dirt road on company property in deep woods when he heard rustling in brush about thirty yards away and smelled a strong skunk-like odor. After stopping, shouting, and resuming walking to a gate and back, he heard quiet whooping vocalizations from behind that grew louder as he moved away. He did not see the source and first considered wild hogs before later considering something unidentified.

The witness, then about 11, went with his father to a surveyor's home in deep East Texas and followed the surveyor's young son down a thin trail behind the house to a deadfall. The son gave whooping calls, after which the witness heard approaching footsteps, heavy breathing like a horse, a deep word-like vocalization and a powerful percussive sound, then breaking limbs. The witness fled back to the house as a tall dark figure ran alongside through the brush, stopping when he screamed for his father.

On Thursday night while three men sat by a vehicle, something crashed quickly through thick brush, flanked across the road and behind them. The witness followed the local guide into the treeline and a large log was thrown end-over-end toward them, hitting a tree. On leaving they found a log deliberately placed across the road where the thing had crossed and heard distant chatter and howls.
