The witness and two companions were hiking to a waterfall when they noticed a strong musky odor. Near the middle fall they saw a large dark furred creature crouched over the river as if drinking. After staring at them briefly it made a throat-clearing sound and walked away bipedally into the trees, pausing to look back.

A roughly nine-foot, black-haired, barrel-chested male stepped onto the trail about 30 yards away, made rapid mouth-popping clicks answered from the brush, then growled and changed expression when the witness turned his bike. A second taller individual stood up in the brush showing chest and head, the witness rode about two and a half miles home, and family members dismissed the report as a bear.

The witness was fishing alone from a creek bank when he noticed a persistent decay-like odor. He then saw a reddish-brown female-appearing figure squatting across the creek near a beaver dam, apparently washing something in the water. After watching briefly, he stood and shouted, at which point the figure stood, made a short vocal sound, and left quickly. He returned to camp frightened and stayed there.

The witness was deer hunting along a road in the morning when he approached what he first took for a bear. At close range he described an upright, very large creature with a strong odor that noticed him, grunted, and quickly climbed a hillside and disappeared over a ridge. While stopped in a clearing on the ATV ride out to secure a rifle, they heard a very deep gorilla-like sound repeated several times that frightened them both. They fled quickly on the ATV and saw only pine tops moving away from them.

Late at night the witness went onto an elevated deck after hearing brush noise and animal sounds. Something heavy walked up a ground-level dock and stopped directly beneath the deck. The witness saw only a large dark shape through the boards while it made loud sniffing breaths, then fled back inside.

Late at night the witness walked home alone along a familiar wooded trail and heard something moving parallel in the brush, breathing heavily. When the witness stopped the sounds stopped, and when walking resumed the follower kept pace. The witness ran toward home and the follower pursued onto gravel and pavement on two feet while making low growls and calls and trying to cut the witness off. At the house the witness's dog confronted the unseen pursuer, which halted very close before withdrawing into the brush.

While fishing alone early one morning the guest playfully made whoop sounds. A short time later something crashed loudly through thick brush toward his point, paced back and forth just out of sight, made huffing sounds, then walked away bipedally. He backed his boat off the bank and was left stunned.

The witness and his sister were waiting at a rarely used roadside bus stop before sunrise when they smelled a foul odor and heard low grunting that grew louder and more aggressive. A large dark-brown figure then knocked over a small dead tree across the road and ran toward them. Both fled a short distance to their house, with the figure closing to within a few feet before continuing into the woods.

The witness and a companion arrived at a house at night and heard repeated loud moans. After the witness called back, nearby trees shook and dogs barked in succession. A grayish two-legged figure then ran quickly across a field with long strides and dropped behind vegetation. Shortly after, metal clanking was heard and lawn furniture was found displaced.

On a Friday night during an archery-hunt camping trip, the witness and a relative sat by the campfire while two unseen presences circled the camp, breaking branches, pacing, and making heavy footsteps. Small rocks and sticks were then thrown into camp, including a softball-sized rock that landed nearby, followed by impacts on a food box and the trailer. Others sheltering in the trailer also heard footsteps, breaking branches, impacts, and a heavy sigh, and later a branch-like object was dragged across the trailer roof.

A group visiting a remote cemetery heard an extremely loud, unearthly yell-like sound coming from about 1000 yards away past a fallen tree across Sugar Creek. The witnesses said it was not a known farm animal and captured it on a camcorder, though quieter on playback. They also noticed a dank, musty odor on the breeze apparently coming from the direction of the sound.

The witness was walking on a dirt road in the evening when a gray-brown figure was seen standing between bushes at a distance. After the witness spoke, the figure made a loud grunt, then turned toward a second grunt heard deeper in the forest and walked away. The witness ran back to a relative, and a next-day visit found a broken branch and flattened vegetation but no footprints.

The witness was driving on a gravel mountain road in the early morning when he saw a small dark animal sitting in the road. A tall brown-haired female came from the woods, picked up the juvenile and carried it back into the trees. After the witness got out of his car a rock struck the car and a much larger dark individual appeared behind the car, vocalized loudly, then crossed the road into the woods. The witness drove a short distance ahead, stopped, heard movement in the woods and had more small rocks thrown toward him before leaving.
Growl (2008)
The hunter was crouched following a buck trail at dusk when a loud sound rising from a growl to a high scream came from near his stand. The nearby buck fled instantly without flagging. He mimicked the sound, got a hog-like snort in reply, then heard loud crashing moving away through the woods for a long distance.

The witness stepped outside the home on consecutive February nights and noticed a strong wet-fur odor, progressive dog barking followed by eerie high-pitched calls from across the river, and repeated knocking sounds like wood impacts. He returned the next day, found apparent footprints, and photographed them.

Late at night the witness and a relative were indoors when they heard monkey-like hooting at the window and noticed vegetation moving outside. The relative went outside with a firearm and saw further movement near the end of the house while the witness heard grunting sounds near another window. The household dog ran to the relative but then whimpered, backed away, and refused to approach the side of the house. After a quiet interval, the two heard only distant noises when they went out again at midnight.
