While driving a motorhome with his family from Willow Creek toward the redwoods, the witness rounded a curve and saw a large dark creature get up on two legs beside the road. It ran smoothly and very fast straight up a steep brushy hill to the treeline. He stopped and walked to the spot, saw pushed-through bushes and movement above, felt he should leave, and his wife confirmed she also saw it.

On October 20 they rode up the creek bed and encountered a large muscular creature standing by the water, which the companion filmed while the guest covered him. Early one morning in 1972 or 1973 the witness rode with a relative toward a hunting area when headlights revealed an animal leaving an orchard and crossing the road on all fours. The animal turned its head toward the vehicle, showing teeth, then went into a ditch, stood upright and stepped over a fence before disappearing from view. The relative acknowledged an animal crossing but did not see the upright movement and later did not recall the event.
